I like the idea of Resolute being like a Cobra S.W.A.T.
Carry out the non-military style missions? Taking hostages, kidnapping scientists (well, kidnappings are the jobs of the ninjas...), taking over banks, taking over offices, that kind of thing. Urban Special Forces. Alley Vipers are street-to-street warfare, Resolute Troopers are inside the buildings. |

I don't use CGs as frontline troopers. They're "sleepers". They're the guys that are working in the tech. company, getting the "lay of the land", and then relay that information to Cobra for the Resolute Troopers to make the attack.
CGs are also used for some missions that don't require alot of armed power. They're the "inside men".

Hey Troynos, what's with your new icon pic?
Also, on a completely unrelated note: What the heck is the deal with Rock Viper version 2? Why didn't they just call him Range Viper... 'cause that's what he is. What do y'all think? Which also brings me to my next question/topic for discussion: How do you rate your Vipers? Which unit is the toughest? How do you use them? I can't wait to hear from y'all on this one. Snow Serpents are perhaps the most elite branch because they must also qualify as Para-Vipers and receive additional airborne training in the arctic. Now arguably the most highly trained unit in all of Cobra is the Ice Viper. Ice Vipers must first serve as Eels, qualify as Para-Vipers and eventually Snow Serpents, and then receive additional training as Techno-Vipers before joining the mechanized branch of arctic WOLF drivers. |

Not to change the subject, but have we ever really broke down the top ten occupations missing from G.I.Joe? I know we touch on it a lot, but have we ever come up with a definitive list?
Here's mine and half of this comes from our discussions: 1. Marine Sniper 2. Combat Contoller 3. ParaRescue 4. SeaBee 5. Navy Corpsman 6. Special Boat Squad 7. Marine Officer 8. After that I'm kind of at a loss. None of these guys are Army. I think the Joes definitely need more representation for the other Armed services. |

The Joe team could use more Communications Officers.
9. ??? 10. ??? Guy at work, his son is the "pilot" for one of the remote-controled surveiilance drones. Not sure if that would be part of the Joe-team and if so, would it need it's own job or could one of the "tech" guys (Mainframe, Hi-Tech) do that job? More Coast Guard? A trained Boat Boarder would be useful (what I think Topside was meant to be), but is that a specific "job"? I think a Secret Service-style Joe would be useful. Someone that's a trained bodyguard, trained on extracting high-value personal from combat situations. Someone trained to protect/secure high value personal and cargo.

I agree. I also see them playing a big part for Intelligence, collecting data, doing covert ops, although they have a strong combat history and are capable of doing anything that Vipers and some of the more specialized Vipers are capable of doing. And when they're not on assignment, they enjoy comfy positions doing high-end security detail for the big men upstairs.
Now Crimson Guards that's an interesting one. For me since there are a million versions now. (This is my verse of course) All are officers, they are commissioned as Capt. right off the bat. You figure all are college educated and Lawyers or accountants. So much like our Armed forces they get commissions. They are the spies of Cobra as well. But they have other roles as well. Like the SS they are the best trained troops in Cobra. They are the Political Officers of Cobra, sort of like how Soviet era Russia was set up. So he may not be the field commander but he could just as easily put a bullet in the field commanders head and take over.. They are trained as military officers and are usually brighter than what gets put in the field. Shadow Guards are the Gestapo wing of the Crimson Guards. Crimson Guard Immortals are the Highest ranking CGs and they do serve as battle field commanders occasionally. They all hold the rank of Colonel. They are only tapped for duty to serve with Cobra Commander. Cobra Commander does not travel lightly armed. But he keeps his detachment with him at all times. If one of these guys tells you to do something you know it came straight from the Commander. Crimson guard commanders are 0-5 equivalents and they serve as Battlefield commanders and are the next step down. Most CGs are Capts or Maj and there is one attached to every unit. Like a Chaplain |

I see the CGs being the smallest unit of Cobra troops, very highly specialized and the "dream" job that all Troopers aspire to. Only CC and the Twins know the exact number/location of CGs. Some are so deeply buried that they've even been known to kill Cobra Troopers to protect their cover.
