There is no doubt a bunch of Joes who give off a civilian Vibe, or at least Law Enforcement or Government intelligence backgrounds. So whenever you guys do write about it, I loved to read it all.
It can be a little monotonous for me to try and think through some of the logistics/Supply positions. Cooks, Accountants, HR, Aviation Support, Mechanic, etc. I just bypass all that and assume the Joes are part of JSOC and all those functions happen at the JSOC HQ level. I don't use all of them, but conceptually they fit in as the Government agency the Joes have to interact with. Toy wise the compatibility is obviously there. I love many of the Marvel Universe figures. I prefer the original Nick Fury, so I use Samuel L Jackson version as Roughshot from Bronze Bombers.
Commander Steve Rogers Maria Hill Winter Soldier Black Widow Captain America (He's his son in my Verse. one of my favorite figures) Punisher Iron- Man War Machine Half of the X-men Half the Marvel Scientists But it's easy to get sidetracked with some characters, so I try to stick to only the ones without super powers. I want to briefly discuss Major Storm. According to his original filecard he is a Long Range Artillery Officer but then it goes on to say he has operated M1 and M60 tanks. So is he proficient in both direct-fire and in-direct fire weapons?
On top of that his second filecard states he is an Intelligence Analyst. So where does everyone else place him? I was thinking of making him an Executive Squadron Commander in one of my Sabre Squadrons (basically the second in command for that particular squadron). |

Guess, I should have clarified, from what I said a while back. There's a big difference between 'civilians' from other government agencies / law enforcement like we're currently discussing and working with I don't know, say a half naked stunt man one just happens to bump into, in the middle of the Arctic like in the cartoon, LOL.
In the context of scenario 2, the civilian attachments will probably have as much (or more) training than the operators themselves. My roster which I'm currently populating will have an absolute ton of civilian contractors, inter-agency personnel and the like. By doing so, I can get rid or 'outsource' a ton of support positions especially in the supply, maintenance, contracting and aviation side of things. Quote:

I have him as the Armor Section Commander in my Mobility Squadron. Barrage as the Artillery Commander in the Mobility Squadron and Rapid-Fire as the Mechanized Cavalry Commander. All Majors.
James Longstreet Flagg III as the overall commander of the Mobility Squadron with Courage as his Deputy. I think the reason they made him both and Armor and Artillery Officer was because he came with the General and that massive Mortar. But his filecard points more towards Armor.

I have Storm as an O5 Intelligence Officer.
Here's a quick bio, I haven't fleshed him out completely yet; He was a 19K M1A1 crewmember, gunner, tank commander before completing his initial service as a 13B Cannon Crew-member in A BATTERY, 1ST BATTALION, 103RD FIELD ARTILLERY REGIMENT (Rhode Island National Guard), which had several deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Attended Brown University majoring in Engineering via ROTC (classes at Providence College) where he played NCAA Ice Hockey and was a member of their award winning Rowing Crew. Commissioned as an Intelligence Officer following graduation. Served as a Battalion Asst S2 in the 1st BN, 187th Infantry Regiment, then the 3rd Ranger BN as an Asst S2. Deployed to Okinawa in the 1st SFGA's 1st Battalion where he served as a MI Detachment Commander, then Battalion S2. Took a staff job as a Requirements and Plans Officer with USASOC before deploying again as a Military Transition Team Advisor and served on the Joint Staff as a Deputy and Acting Intelligence Director with Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan. Currently serves as the Joes Intel Support Squadron Commander |

Tons of broad overreach. All of them are GS ranked so they fit in where their equivalency puts them, should they go on Missions with Joes, but essentially they are all officers, or Warrant Officer equivalents. I don't neccessarily want Spider-Man outranking Lt. Falcon, so he's a WO-2 Equivalent instead. But someone like Punisher or Sam Wilson or Luke Cage I have as Captain equivalents. This of course led to way too many officers when I tried to combine Marvel and Joes, so now I keep them separate.

I am not a fan of DC comics So I am not familiar with the ARGUS guys. (Although I do use Bruce Wayne) So do you have the SHIELD Agents as a government agency on top of CIA or FBI or DHS or as a UN mandated organization? Do you just add the military guys in with the rest of the Joes?
Both SHIELD and ARGUS are agencies within the Government. Fury running SHIELD, Waller with ARGUS. I do however add in the other military guys in with the rest of the Joes. I have Bruce Wayne as a Col. using his Amalgam Universe combination of him and Fury. Diana Prince as a Lt. like her cover as an Army Nurse. |

As a Major I'd have him command a squadron - and given his background I'd make it a mobility squadron (Barrage could command the artillery/fire support/air defence). I see Storm as a tanker, not an artillery officer (it's possible that someone confused an M109 for a tank - it's a common mistake). Though as an aside, some tanks have the tools to fire short range indirect missions. They're limited by their low barrel elevation and the nature of their ammunition, but it can be done in a pinch. Perhaps Storm was really good at that kind of tactic. Quote:

Great lineup, Rapid Fire as a Cavalry Commander is a good choice. Quote:

Since my Joes do not deploy armor I think I am going to assign him as an Intelligence Officer as well. Also do you have your Joe structure in place? I would say mine is 60-65% done. I am still tweaking my Sabre Squadrons as to whether to divide their Troops up into their method of insertion (HALO, SCUBA, Mobility, Mountain) and how many per Troop. I keep going from 14-20 man Troop sizes. |

I am placing the majority of my Joes in more Combat and Combat Support (MWD, Intelligence, EOD, etc) roles as that is where the most "action" is. Direct action, special reconnaissance, advanced force operations, etc would make for more interesting fan-fic stories (which I am slowly trying to accomplish). The Combat Services Support roles would be filled with no-named Joes. Last edited by john shaft; 06-30-2016 at 07:47 PM.. Reason: Spelling |
