Yeah plus he was a skydiving enthusiast prior to enlistment.
His last figure is all MFF though.

Airborne acts as loadmaster in the comics when they Joes caught CC and were airdropping him and the command centre into the Rockies. He doesn't seem to act as rigger or jumpmaster as far as I recall.
The environment specific Joes are seen operating outside their environments in the comics some times. Torpedo was part of the battle in DC at the US Mint in an early story (ludicrously in his SEAL gear, with his spear gun), Snow Job worked with Torp in the mission that saw the GI Jane sunk, manning the WHALE (ludicrously wearing his white coat, then again they were in the Atlantic, so maybe not so ludicrously!). Snow Job also went on the mission to Italy that led to CC being caught that wasn't snowy, but mountain climbing. Wet Suit went on the mission "Ambush" in Special Missions in Vietnam's jungles. That last mission saw Tunnel Rat, Footloose, Lowlight and Leatherneck doing a LALO jump in, along with Flint, Wet Suit and Beach Head. Suggests all the Joes definitely have airborne wings to some degree. Roadblock, Gung-Ho, Ripcord and Stalker also did a freefall jump into Sierra Gordo to rescue Dr Burkhart. Scarlett jumped into the High Sierras to tell Stormy that Snake Eyes was captured in the silent Yearbook issue. Spirit freefall jumped into the same mountains with Airborne in a story where they were keeping tabs on Snakes while he was on vacation. |

Yes Loadmaster for sure. I threw out jumpmaster and Rigger, just to sort of justify why he would be called "Airborne". I view him as the first airborne trooper who had to be an expert in all things Airborne related, since all the Joes are probably Jump qualified and possibly even MFF. He had to be set apart.
Stalker comes to mind and the Joe we see the most as a Jumpmaster, and the only one to have it on a filecard as well I believe (V2?). Riggers is Airborne (Six) and Crazylegs I think. Or is that Parachute Assembler?

Is anyone gonna rename the first version this version, or do you consider Air-Raid v1 another Airborne?

This Air Raid appears to be Black. Would be a bit odd to share filenames with v1. I use v1 as Barrel Roll anyway.

You know, I'm quite impressed with Air Raid II's filecard, I think whoever wrote it did a pretty bang up job. It gives us a unique new character with a pretty unique SMS. I was organizing my Combat Development unit and Air Raid's SMS of Operations Research Analyst fits right in, especially since I don't have fast jets in my 'verse.
It's a pity that this is the last lot of filecards we'll likely see from this group of contributors. I appreciate the effort in trying to make some of them more realistic. |

Yeah this is a pretty good one. This is one of the exclusives I want most, and I think it is the filecard that is making me want to drop all that dough. Leave it up to the HASBRO/PARAMOUNT development team and we got shitty figure bios. Hopefully going forward Hasbro continues to focus on the Filecards. Or at least listen to the fans for ideas.
