I must say, most of his depictions seem to indicate he's a Rottweiler but that's good to know finally.

The original is Still a mutt to me. He seemed small in the Comics but more Rottie in the cartoons. Although the latest toy versions looks like a definite Rottie whereas the original seemed too small. (Head and Muzzle too small, and rump too low.)
Has there ever been a poll for Favorite Joe Animal? Junkyard Timber Order Polly Freedom Max Lamont Finback

Man, I forgot all about Finback. Don't forget Dusty's Sandstorm. And TF Mutt came with Junkyard II. That's an even 10.
How about a poll for Cobra animals too? How many are there? Croc Master's gator Serpentor's cobra Raptor's falcon Voltar's condor Hydro-Viper's sting ray Gnawgahyde's boar Udertow's barracuda Sand Scorpion's scorpion Eel's mechanical shark Repulsor's Dawg More? Plus Joe and Cobra Brazilian sidekicks: Leontor's lion Tigor's tiger Kangor's kangaroo Urzor's bear Last edited by Tanksmasher; 06-10-2016 at 10:30 AM.. Reason: Added Dawg |

So I am in the midst of (continuing) to restructure my Joes and have hit a snag. I have a Headquarters element along with Combat Service Support Squadron (logistics,. motor pool, research and development, etc) and a Combat Support Squadron (MWD, Signals, Intelligence, JTAC, CBRN, etc) and was wondering where to place my EOD unit? Traditionally EOD is classified under Combat Service Support but it seems like EOD techs are always accompanying SOF units right into the thick of an operation. My limited understanding of EOD techs in a standard military unit is that they come in after all the fighting or door kicking is done and do their business. Whereas in a SOF unit it seems they are right there with the door-kickers while the operation is in progress. I understand that CSS personnel can get involved in firefights and such but it seems like a unit (such as EOD) that is right with an assault group would be classified more as a Combat Support unit. Thoughts?

I guess it depends how many you are talking about? I have them sprinkled throughout the various Squadrons. Master Chief and Effects are part of my Special Weapons Force Engineering team, but Tunnel-Rat is on my Jungle teams

If you're going to be more contemporary then I think it should definitely reside within the Combat Support element. The advent of the Improvised Explosive Device and the use of suicide bombers have become as big a threat (and possibly moreso) than the insurgent / violent extremist elements themselves and brought the need for EOD technicians to the fore of the contemporary battlespace. I know that the white mission SEAL teams usually have 1 or 2 (maybe 3 now that they split into three 7 man squads) EOD guys attached. US Special Forces usually have a few guys from the 28th Ordnance Company (ABN) attached. The Marine Raiders have 4-6 EOD technicians attached to each Marine Raider Company and are organic to their Combat Support Companies (along with their Multi-Purpose Canine, Intelligence Direct Support, C4I Direct Support and Logistic Support Teams). In terms of Tier 1 units (which is how I understand you have your Joe team structured), I think DEVGRU has its own EOD Squadron and CAG / Delta have an EOD Troop in their Combat Support Squadron. Personally, I have my EOD guys in my Combat Support Squadron. At the moment I have it pegged as 16 guys in total, 4 for each of the three Sabre Squadrons and 4 in Admin/Reserve. |
