And regarding firemen, BBQ is an Eco-Warrior, to boot! Remember: when Shipwreck told Barbecue the Joes didn't "need" a fireman, he wisely replied: "Everyone says that until their house is on fire." Last edited by seaneley; 06-07-2016 at 10:17 PM.. |

he uses his own joe verse as fact for us all. I guess my rational was overthinking it. I do like "because he is a medic in my joe verse" better for a reason. Loose cannon is cool |

I think using the firefighters as medics seems reasonable if you want to expand your medical sections. It's a good use for them, Loose.

I don't think firefighter is a job listing on any Special Ops team anywhere. However now you mention Eco-warriors that is a great fit for him. The Joe's would definitely need a Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment.

That's how I'm using Barbecue, as part of a Chemical Reconnaissance group. He works with Airtight, maybe Blowtorch (sorta makes sense, I guess )and Med Alert.

Since we're talking BBQ, here's my profile on him which I'll be drawing on for my fanfic;
BBQ was born into a large firefighting family, the youngest of 5 boys, he was a bright kid who skipped two grades in school and cultivated a class clown / life of the party persona to 'fit in'. Graduated High School at 17 and dropped out of a Fine Arts Degree in Architecture & Preservation (nod to the episode 'The Viper' wherein he restores an old Firehouse) due to excessive partying. * Note - He'd eventually complete a course in Preservation Carpentry at the North Bennett Street School. * His parents drove him to the Marine Recruiting station the next day, hoping a bit of Military Discipline would set him straight, enlisted as a Amphibious Armored Vehicle (AAV) Crewman (a nod to the Marauders and the unproduced Mega Marines figure) Had a solid if unspectacular 4 year stretch, serving his last two years in the Reserves. Graduated as honor graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy and Northwestern University's EMT-B program. Served as a Fireman / EMT with the Greenridge Fire Dept (nod to his appearance in Renegades) before joining Rescue Company 2 in the Roxbury section of the Boston FD. At Rescue 2 he was trained in tunnel rescue, confined space, trench rescue and Building collapse. He received additional training in HAZMAT operations, and served on a SCUBA unit. Earning certificates from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Disaster Management and a BSc in Fire Science from Anna Maria College (an online correspondence course). Began to feel frustrated as all his friends matured with family and financial responsibilities whilst he was still the same life of the party, after a series of disastrous relationships and his own house burning down when 'some madman with a book of matches took everything from him' (direct quote from Renegades), BBQ abruptly quit the Boston FD and enlisted in the Army with an 18X contract. Was ultimately dropped from the SF program due to poor psych evaluations, was destined to be an 11B bullet stopper when the 'needs of the army' sent him to the Chemical Corps (a nod to ECO Warriors). At first disillusioned with life in the Chemical Corps, he made the best of it. Served with distinction with the 20th CBRNE Command and a tour with the now defunct Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) before assignment with the 14th Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment, attached to the 3rd SFGA. Was serving with the 3rd SFGA's detachment in Vicenza, Italy (a nod to his Action Force counterpart who's Italian) when both Delta and the Joes came calling. Entered the Joe program initially as a Chemical Warfare specialist before really finding his niche during Operator Training as a Breaching specialist. As a breaching specialist, he uses all his life's experience in carpentry, architecture, CBRN warfare, explosives and Confined space rescue in finding ways in and ways out of different structures. Currently serves as a senior NCO in the Joes' Heavy Breaching Troop and concurrently serves on JSOC's Hard and Deeply Buried Target (HDBT) working group. Whilst highly respected for his intelligence and unique skill set, his frat boy persona still grates on seasoned warriors like Stalker who don't believe that a Tier 1 unit like the Joes is any place for party boys whether it interferes with their duties or not (Devil's Due Battle Files) Last edited by Tyroc; 06-08-2016 at 01:45 AM.. |

I like it, Captain Britain! To expand on some earlier comments on BBQ, not all firefighters are EMTs, but many of them are. In most major cities, the fire department also operates the ambulance service. Ironically, Boston is one of the few that doesn't. When I was an EMT, I wasn't a firefighter, and I knew many EMTs who weren't either. One paramedic I knew worked full time as a cop in another city. Another one was also a physician's assistant and a former Green Beret-he knew one of the PJ's that was in the Battle of Mogadishu.

Superb job! Question though are their Infantryman billets in a Chemical Detachment? |

Wow Tyroc, that's extensive. Now yo have me intrigued with this Hard and Deeply Buried Targets Working group. Is that engineers demolition?
It sort of ties into Captain Britain's version as an EOD, which I like as well. Here in Virginia I assume some of our Firefighters are EMT since I see fire engines show up to all manners of emergency calls and no ambulance in site. Especially on our beautifully congested highways. Barbecue was one of my least favorite Joes as a toy. I never wanted one and didn't get him until Eco-warriors version came out. I have my Barbecue as part of my Special Weapons Force Engineering team, which turns out to be a catch all for some random characters. It is the EOD/Chemical Reconnaissance /Laser weapons team.
