So, having a red beret meant absolutely nothing then (c. 1993)?

Lets assume they were meant to be Maroon. That has always been the Airborne's color.
However if he is Air Force then that means CCT/STO. Well Scarlett berets that is. I don't know when they adopted those?

This site has a copy of the beret that you can look at up close and it seems to be a stylized plane shooting upward on the green triangle: RED BERET (v1), YOJOE.COM The "file-card" or "blurb" on the back of the package isn't much help... Last edited by seaneley; 05-05-2016 at 05:39 PM.. |

The "Hall of Fame" set definitely stated "Red Beret". So, you're thinking this was an Air Force set? The official titles for the sets were "Red Beret Commando" and "Red Beret Weapons Arsenal" and it included a Red Beret for your figure. The symbol is a green triangle with white stitched outline and what appears to be a yellow "jet" symbol. Maybe somebody more knowledgable will recognize what military company it represents (if it is a real one).

But seriously, I think it's just a Hasbro gimmick with no relation to reality. The beret flash symbol doesn't mean anything... The Army certainly never had RED berets, and the set doesn't really look like anything connected to the Combat Controlers. It was a toy playset. I had it when I was a kid, too. It was just make believe. It just sounded flashy.

Sorry brother it was a rough Monday. Are you sticking around? What you been up to?
Still goes back to the one thing the Joes still lack a Combat Controller. Jammer?

I'm around. We just had a new baby, so things are a little chaotic at our house. How are y'all doing?

First of all, I can't believe I show up after months of being gone and no one says "Hello", and I also can't believe that the "Rasberry Beret" joke got NO laughs. That was comedy gold. Nobody else remembers that song?

It was just make-believe. It just sounded flashy. I guess G.I. Joe could have a group of special forces Air Force? That would be kind of cool, since the Green Berets are also represented as a specialized sub-group within G.I. Joe (thanks to the "Hall of Fame" series). I guess Flint could lead the Green Berets and Ace could lead the Red Berets. (I'm sticking to "Hall of Fame" figures that have been made, which is why I'm not including Falcon.) Oh, and your joke? Too soon, man. Too soon. (shakes head) JK! |

Thanks... This is our second - 2 Boys so far. Hopefully I can get them into G.I. Joe while they're still young.

If G.I.Joe is a secret team, how did Cutter find out about it? By
going up the chain of command in the Coast Guard and lobbying his Congressman, how secret is G.I.Joe? |
