Oh yeah version 1 filecard.
"Graduated top of his class at airborne school, Fort Benning. Opted for U.S. Army Special Language School. Specialized in Han Chinese and South East Asian dialects. Went Special Forces in 1969. Worked with tribesman in the boonies of South Vietnam. Ran four different Special Forces schools. Turned down a commission in 1971." Although I can now see how that might be missed, since version 3, 4, 5 make no mention of Special Forces and have him as Ranger as his MOS. Plus did IDW have him and Roadblock as Rangers? Joes who are Former Green Berets : Colton Claymore Falcon Flint Duke Drop-Zone Kamakura per Devils Due Beachhead, Big Brawler and Dial-Tone per club figure releases.

I wouldn't necessarily treat the club con figures as Canon but I'm including it because they updated those three to Green Berets. Big Brawler seems like the right fit, and I can accept Dial-Tone, but Beachhead seems like a stretch to me. Sean Collins as Kamakura and Takedown is Special Forces.
Then of course there are all the Joes who would make a natural fit as Green Berets. Stalker for one. All that language? Snake-Eyes by association Breaker (project Gamma) Recondo Ripcord Outback

sicne 'Ranger' is a qualification, not just a job, yes, you can be a Ranger and a Green Beret or Delta operator. If you get through Ranger School, you're a Ranger even if you don't join the 75th Ranger Regt, which most Rangers don't. You could be a Ranger in the 101st Air Assault, 10th Mountain or even 3rd Armoured. Hell, you could probably even be a Ranger qualified Vet.

Yeah Ranger is not an MOS like say 18Z Special Forces Senior Sergeant, which is more realistic for Duke. Ranger Qualified, meaning one completed Ranger School is different than being part of the 75th Ranger Regiment, which is almost a requirement for Army Infantry Officers and NCOs, regardless of unit.

Just Infantry Officers are strongly encouraged to go to Ranger School.
Stalker was originally designed to have a camo Beret like the ones sported by LRRP units in Vietnam. Those LRRP units were the same ones used to stand up the ranger regiment. Not sure why Beachhead has the Red Beret. I assume as a shout out to his Airborne training, as the 82 were the ones who wore thoses. But Beachhead has the 75th patch on his arm. Tunnel-Rat doesn't exclusively state he's part of the Rangers, but one can infer hes was since he completed Ranger School and went to Grenada in almost the same sentence on his filecard. The only army units to go to Grenada were the Rangers and the 82 Airborne as part of the Quick Reaction Force. So those three I would say yes they were Part of the 75th. Others who were 75th: Starduster Sneak-Peek Skydive Crazylegs Freefall Probably Snake-Eyes too.

Okay, so if you're an officer, you have to be Ranger qualified, not necessarily a "Ranger". It just seems silly then that Stalker and Beachhead are considered "Rangers" as their official titles on their file-cards (Stalker wears a green beret and Beachhead wears his red beret on his shoulder). Also, Tunnel Rat is considered a Ranger, also. Is he ranger qualified or 75th???
Stalker originally had a camo beret on the card art. I think they dropped the extra paint app for cost like they did with SE. The camo beret was sometimes used by LRRPs in Vietnam. The only reason I can think of for Beach Head wearing a red beret is that a black beret (75th beret color at the time) would blend into his black vest and most people wouldn't realize it was a beret on his shoulder. He's also wearing the patch for the 75th Infantry Division. A unit that wasn't even active when the figure was designed. I'd like to think maybe there was some designer confusion between the two units. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/75th_I...(United_States) Both characters are known to be leaders in the Joe team. Rangers Lead The Way is the Ranger motto.

I can't believe I forgot about Rampage. Beachhead was an instructor at Ranger School. He's a Ranger through and through:
http://www.ranger.org/Resources/Docu...te%20brief.pdf Then there is Muskrat? He seems to fit as a Ranger as well. Not sure what other unit he would be coming from? Same goes for Dart. Probably Pathfinder too although he doesn't mention Ranger school on his filecard. Crankcase maybe a Ranger. I don't think he would go to SAS training if he wasn't. Repeater is a Ranger too. Possibly Outback as well. His filecard quotes the Ranger creed and he did some work in Central America like mentioned in Beachhead's filecard. Other Joes who went to Ranger school but probably were not part of the 75 Regiment: Clutch Scarlett Alpine Lady Jaye
