Joe's not that big, and I can't see needed to put more than 4-5 guys through on a specialist course. That can be done with one or two instructors. If you've got several course running at the same time (say, dive, MFF, sniping, JTAC), all of a sudden that's 20-25 students and 5-10 instructors. They're probably not big enough to sustain a higher "school" tempo while also keeping guys on standby for ops. They're not running BUDS where there are dozens of guys in the water at the same time.
But this now touches on a separate issue: medics, and specialized training for diving, for jumping, for tropical diseases, mountaineering, extreme cold weather and so on. Interesting take on Ice-Storm as the dive (and cold weather) medic. But there need to be some others too, and I don't think Joe has enough named-character medics. Again, that could be a Green Shirt role. |

How many Medic are there:
Stalker Doc Spirit ~ Maybe Barbecue ~ Probably by virtue of him being a Firefighter Lifeline Falcon Stretcher Airborne (Six) Blast-Off ~ same as BBQ Hard-Drive (He might have more pressing matters) Med-Alert Barrel-Roll (As a PJ) Ice-Storm - Rescue Operations Carla Greer Link Talbot ~ Joes don't need a veterinarian

To add on: Sideswipe Sidetrack Inferno (possible EMT training as a firefighter) The Joes for sure need more medics! lol I definitely see the Joes doing a rotational thing as far as training and such. I am re-reading Delta Force by Charles Beckwith and several of his trainers (including Walter Shumate) also participated in Operation Eagle Claw as operators. |

Do the Joes have that luxury with only 8-10 SEALs on the team? Delta and DEVGRU have around 300 operators. That's plenty of people rotate some out for down time. You'd probably all the SEALs and Deep-Six to run a safe dive course. You'd need safety swimmers, a dive rated medic, and multiple instructors to keep an eye all the students.
In the SEAL team some elements stand down for non-operational tours involving training, staff ops, etc. |

Thought it was on one of his Screaming Eagles cards, but I guess it was one of those things your mind makes you think you saw.... Last edited by Sgt Major Haley; 03-14-2016 at 10:00 PM.. |

Taking a look through that list of guys with medical skills, here's roughly what I see:
Aid-post/surgery: Doc, Carla, Jane, Lifeline (X-Ray tech), Link Talbot (dogs and assorted pets). Stalker & Falcon are commanders so would rarely be employed as medics. Spirit, Sidetrack, Blast Off, Hard Drive - secondary roles as medics. Inferno & Barbecue - flight-line/QRF medics (along with jaws of life cutting tools) Barrel-Roll and Airborne (Six): specialists in high-altitude parachute-related medicine. Ice-Storm: specialist in extreme cold; diving; mountaineering medicine Med Alert & Stretcher & Sideswipe [thanks to LC below for noting the omission): insufficient detail to determine if they'd have any specialized training.
