I love this thread. There's a LOT of information on here that I was never aware of before.

I'm modern only right now, until I finally get the space to get all of my ARAH figures and vehicles out of storage.

I'm just getting the vintage to fill in holes in my small collection. I got a case of collection-envy.
This thread has made me look at some of the characters differently and in new lights and made some mediocre characters seem so much cooler.

Agreed! It also makes me wish that the appearance of many of the characters was more reflective of how cool they are in the filecards.

I certainly agree. This thread has hurt my wallet. Every time we discuss some old character that I never really cared about, I come away thinking, "Man, I should find that character on ebay." It has been really great to get so much good insight on so many great characters.

Troynos, I read your post of the Comic Preview.
Duke is an E-7? That is CRAZY! Beach-Head's some reckless "Danger Addict"? That doesn't sound right. Scarlett's doing office work in "Strategy"? In full battle uniform? Really? I'm going to read it and give it a fair shake, but I'm not hopeful.

From what I hear, there's a lot of decent stories that came out after, so you may find something with this new release that works for you along the way.

I HATED the first DDP series. I stopped reading it after that, which sucked because Joe was the first comic I got and got me into collecting comics (45+ long boxes later...).
I ended up getting digital scans of the entire DDP run (including America's Elite) and still wasn't that impressed by it. I like the take on Beachhead so far. Reminds me of his appearance in Special Missions (Marvel) #1 where he's crawling into the plane singing "I want to be an airborne ranger, I want to live a life of danger". To me that's Beachhead, not the drill instructor that DDP made him into.
