ISTR adding Muralha in 'The Kill Zone'. A lot more of the Brazilians will be appearing in a future story with big changes coming for TF 282

Is there a way to read them in order CapBritain? The timeline page doesn't actually have links to the storylines.

The Spec Ops page is in order of writing, some of which is chronological order.
I'll have to try and get a page done of the stories in chronological order. I need to pull my finger out and get and finish writing my current story too, which I barely started before Christmas and distractions afterwards. |

I edited the timeline page so the first time a story title comes up, it's a link to the story.

Thanks for the well wishes John. Yeah, a few years ago I went to hospital to fix a broken elbow and picked up a hospital borne infection which affected my kidneys. Finally got some surgery to fix it late last year. (Took a long time to diagnose).
Anyway, for you guys here's the link Tank asked me about; ftp://24.153.160.53/Scenario_Public/...AL%20FORCE.doc and ftp://24.153.160.53/Scenario_Public/...T%20SPECIA.doc Capt Britain, thanks for updating the links, I've always enjoyed your fanfic thru the Joe Canuck site. Have you thought of publishing via Kindle Worlds. Your work is far more engaging than some of the stuff that's on there. |

I did at one point, but ultimately rejected the idea. It didn't seem like a good idea to me.

Gotta keep this thread going....
So here is the '85 lineup of Joes (Army only since I am not thoroughly familiar with the other three services MOS's, Ratings, etc) and their possible MOS's: Dusty: 91C Utilities Equipment Repairer then reclassify as an 11B Infantryman Footloose: 11B Infantryman. Not sure what a "Social Services" MOS would be Bazooka: 19K M1 Armor Crewman then reclassify as an 11B Infantryman Tollbooth: Start out as an MOS in the Transportation field then reclassify as either an 12B Combat Engineer or 12C Bridge Crewmember? Not sure if 12B's would drive an M60A1 AVLB or not..... Crankcase: 88M Motor Vehicle Operator then a 19D Cavalry Scout. His Secondary Military Specialty states "Armor" so it could imply a 19D instead of a 19K. Also I believe 88M's are basically the equivalent to truck drivers so since he drives smaller attack vehicles he may have never been an 88M (same with Clutch). Heavy Metal: 36B Financial Management Technician then a 19K M1 Armor Crewman Frostbite: 88M Motor Vehicle Operator then a 19K M1 Armor Crewman. Alpine: 36B Financial Management Technician then a 11B Infantryman Quick Kick: 11B Infantryman then a 35M Human Intelligence Collector? Flint: 11B Infantryman then 18B SF Weapons then 180A Special Forces Warrant Officer Airtight: 89B Ammunition Specialist then a 74D CBRN Specialist Lady Jaye: 42A Human Resources Specialist then a 35M Human Intelligence Collector Barbecue : 11B Infantryman then a 12M Firefighter I can't speak for the Army, but in the Marine Corps, you are more likely to go from combat arms to support. Not 100% of the time, but generally at the end of a guy's enlistment, they might tell him "Okay, Dusty, you were a good Marine, did well, but we are only re-enlisting 10% of first termers in the infantry so you have to pick a new MOS." Or, sometimes a guy just wants a change and asks to change fields. Same with Alpine and Heavy Metal, near and dear to my heart because that is the path I had-Marine Infantry to Financial Management. I think Footloose's "social services" might be something like counselor or substance abuse counselor, those are additional MOS's in the USMC anyway. The other issue, you can get trained and licensed as a motor vehicle operator without actually getting the MOS. To be honest, I am not 100% certain what the skill set difference is between a motor T Marine and a Marine who has just been trained to drive a Humvee or truck. I suspect things like maintenance. And with guys like Tollbooth, you have multiple MOSs that as you go up in rank, all feed to one SNCO MOS, so you might be a combat engineer or heavy equipment operator as E-1 to E-5 and then at E-6, both guys get the same MOS as Engineer Platoon Sergeant or something similar. |

It would make sense that they would move more senior Marines into support positions so they could make room for fresh recruits getting into Infantry. I always thought most of the Original 13 should have been Marines as most of them have "Infantry" listed in their military specialties. It would make more sense as all Marines go through the School of Infantry before going on to training for their particular MOS.
I always imagined Joes like Heavy Metal and Alpine going through Financial Management school first then re-enlisting into Armor/Infantry. That way their combat skills are sharper before they enlist into an elite organization like the Joes. |

I always sort of envisioned the same thing with the more Support type SMS many Joes have. Although in reality I am sure it is exactly as Hardcorps describes it more times than not.
I wonder what the ratios are for Combat units to support staff and other clerical, non-combat roles in the armed forces?
