On the topic of organization, I've noticed that everyone automatically assumes that Joe is a stand-alone unit. It struck me recently that Joe could also be a subordinate squadron of Delta. Considering the timing of the release of Joe in the early '80's, say Delta was expanding and creating a dedicated reconnaissance squadron (the precursor to an Advance Force Operations unit, or similar to ST6's Black Squadron). It would be primarily Army based, but with a couple of pers seconded from other branches. There are some points for and against this idea.
For: being a Sqn vice a Regiment reduces the need for so many senior officers and NCOs. Against: An AFO usually has senior pers to start with and tends to be fairly rank-heavy. For: An AFO requires pers with a broad range of language capabilities, which are there in Joe. Against: An AFO has little need for lots of armoured vehicles Anyway, it's an idea. |

Ha not a bad idea.
I don't know how I consider my Joes. There is a lot of officers to choose from. I consider the 12 Generals as the Jugglers themselves. Someone like Colton would be the Head of SOCOM as an O-10. The 6 high ranking generals hold some known command like Centcom or a deputy AFRICOM commander. They use the Joes as their direct action Squadrons. The nature of the mission determines which Squadron to use. The 6 Brigadier generals are each commanding a separate Squadron. Being a Brigadier they have blanket authority over local commanders in the area of operation. They have a command team of a Colonel and Lt Colonel and a few support personnel to maintain control and liaise with the local Forces. I feel like this is a reasonable enough use of these senior Officers to be included without wasting to much time focusing on their roles. I have almost 40 Joes above O-4. The squadrons themselves are broken down into two to four teams each. Each team leader is usually a Major but it varies.

Gotta keep this thread going....
So here is the '85 lineup of Joes (Army only since I am not thoroughly familiar with the other three services MOS's, Ratings, etc) and their possible MOS's: Dusty: 91C Utilities Equipment Repairer then reclassify as an 11B Infantryman Footloose: 11B Infantryman. Not sure what a "Social Services" MOS would be Bazooka: 19K M1 Armor Crewman then reclassify as an 11B Infantryman Tollbooth: Start out as an MOS in the Transportation field then reclassify as either an 12B Combat Engineer or 12C Bridge Crewmember? Not sure if 12B's would drive an M60A1 AVLB or not..... Crankcase: 88M Motor Vehicle Operator then a 19D Cavalry Scout. His Secondary Military Specialty states "Armor" so it could imply a 19D instead of a 19K. Also I believe 88M's are basically the equivalent to truck drivers so since he drives smaller attack vehicles he may have never been an 88M (same with Clutch). Heavy Metal: 36B Financial Management Technician then a 19K M1 Armor Crewman Frostbite: 88M Motor Vehicle Operator then a 19K M1 Armor Crewman. Alpine: 36B Financial Management Technician then a 11B Infantryman Quick Kick: 11B Infantryman then a 35M Human Intelligence Collector? Flint: 11B Infantryman then 18B SF Weapons then 180A Special Forces Warrant Officer Airtight: 89B Ammunition Specialist then a 74D CBRN Specialist Lady Jaye: 42A Human Resources Specialist then a 35M Human Intelligence Collector Barbecue : 11B Infantryman then a 12M Firefighter |

Looks good, Shaft.
Kind of off topic but can anyone make sense of the Argentine "grados" or rank/grades on the international cards. I want to incorporate these figures into my organization but the grades are all over the place and I can't find any info that explains what they stand for. Are they meaningless? Some have hyphens, others don't, some apostrophes... A3 A-5 D'8 E-5 G6 M5 M-6 M-16 O4 |

I think they're meaningless. Here's a link to Argentinian Army ranks, which are reasonably similar to the other South American rank structures: Sitio Oficial del Ejército Argentino They don't map well with NATO ranks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_...rmies_officers and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_...rmies_enlisted), but you can generally figure out equivalents.

I tend to disregard the ranks. I mean M-16 is not a rank, so I assume someone wrote these with no clue as to what they were doing.
I like what the club did with most of the ranks. Shimik E-8 TNT E-6 Topson E-6 Redmack E-5 Manleh E-5 My choice for these: Glenda WO-2 Sparta O-2 Sokerk E-5

my fan-fic operates on the principle that most of the Brazilian and Argentine guys and gals are Sergeants at a minimum. Glenda would be a WO equivalent or a lieutenant. The Brazilian TF Duke is an Intel officer, so a Captain at least. Brazil Flint is an Strategist officer, so a Captain at minimum as well. Brazil Scoop or General Attack, is a Brigadier. Condor is a Captain. Repeater/Rearguard is also an officer, I'd say at least a Captain too.

What are you renaming Flint and Duke?

Flint's name is Muralha in the line, which translates as 'Wall'. I stick to Muralha.
Duke I renamed 'Fidalgo', which is Portuguese for 'Nobleman', so in the sense that a Duke, a Baron or a Lord is part of the nobility. It was a way around Duque being Portuguese for 'Duke' and not repeating the name , whilst honouring it in a way. Kinda like someone upthread mentioned renaming the Ambush redeco called 'Sidetrack' to 'Waylay'. The others I renamed are: Ponta de Lanca/Heavy Metal (Lance-point is just too siilar to 'Spearhead') to 'Striker' since the character's a (soccer) football player; Outlaw/Destro v1 to Gun-runner, this is because I already had a Z-Force trooper named 'Outlaw' and Gun-runner fits the idea he's a weapons smuggler; and then Colonel Courage became Colonel Valiant (to avoid duplicate names) and Breastplate/Cobra Commander v3 became 'Armoured Snake' because the actual name for the figure was some weird armour term 'Cuiraiass' or something. Armoured Snake just seemed to fit with Deadly Cobra, Steel Cobra and Water Snake... I also rolled with Commander Destruction for Annihilator, since it was the figure's function descriptor (y'know, like 'Warrant Officer' for Flint). I also adjusted Bullet Man/Bazooka to 'Rocket Man' since that seemed better for an anti-tank guy. |

Do you use them in your Fanfic? I don't remember seeing either of them, but I haven't read it all yet.
