Here's something I've never noticed before. The 1992 DEF version of Bullet Proof is wearing 'an Official Air Force Officer's uniform belt'.
http://www.yojoe.com/images/resize/w...s/bulletpr.jpg That's all I need to make him an ex-USAF Security Squadron officer. Adds a bit of diversity of services if nothing else and gives us our first non pilot USAF officer other than Gears. Nice find Tyroc! I never noticed that before. I agree the Joes need more non-pilot USAF personnel. |

If I recall correctly, Gears was mentioned as USAF in Pablo Hidalgo's book. That said, I can't find evidence of it online and my hard copy is in a storage unit two states away so I could just be talking out my ar$e ;)
John, I found this in my travels, it's a UKSF ORBAT and it distinctly outlines the structure of a SAS Squadron HQ troop. I don't know how true it is or where the source information is from but it's the first time anywhere I've seen anything about the billets in a HQ Troop https://britisharmedforcesreview.fil...rces-orbat.pdf |

All other info I have found explains the four squadrons and what they specialize in but not the actual structure (which is very much like the SAS). One of my questions is are SAS snipers integrated with the 16-man Troops or do they have a separate group for them? |

That's a great site. I keep going back to it all the time. How does the SFSG train or even deploy with the SAS or SBS units they support?

Probably similar to the Rangers with Delta, joint exercises and deploying via RAF aircraft.

Ones I have read include: Blackhawk Down American Sniper No Easy Day Killer Elite The Only Thing Worth Dying For Roughneck Nine One Bravo Two Zero Pathfinder Not a Good Day to Die Delta Force Inside Delta Force Kill Bin Laden The Men, Mission and Me I am forgetting a few others at the moment. Also I plan on getting Relentless Strike at some point. EDIT: Forgot to add: Lone Survivor Shooter In the Company of Heroes Seal Team Six Last edited by john shaft; 10-06-2015 at 09:21 PM.. |

75th Ranger RGT;
Reaper - Story of a Ranger Sniper by Nicholas Irving Violence of Action - the 75th RRGT in Afghanistan (In my 'to read' pile) The Battle of Mogadishu by Matt Eversmann Special Forces / Green Berets; The Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton The Lions of Kandahar by Rusty Mauerer USAF None Braver - USAF Pararescuemen in Afghanistan No Room for Error by John T Carney USMC Raiders / MARSOC; Level Zero Heroes by Michael Golembesky There are SOOOOO many books about SEALs, I can't think of any that jump out beyond the ones you've mentioned like 'American Sniper'. There's been so few Delta books that I think you've read them all In terms of military fiction, I got annoyed with Marcinko's series of books and gave up. Don Mann has a series of books which are okay. The best ones or at least the ones I've enjoyed are; Chris Ryan's stuff Dalton Fury's Colt Raynor series (the first two are good, the third was weird. There's a fourth in hardcover but it's yet to show up in Oz) Brad Taylor's Pike Logan series (the author is ex-Delta), very good series For my money though you can't go wrong with Duncan Falconer's series of books. Really great action and would make a great series of movies. |
