We know the SEALS have used dogs, I wonder if their handlers were SEAL operators or some other support guys.

I think that in the early days of the GWOT, most of the handlers were qualified SEALs but since the specialty has exploded in operational use, they've now got dedicated specialists handling the job (to let the shooters concentrate on shooting I guess). |

Extract from NWP 3-05 4.2.6 Multi-purpose Canine SEAL platoon capability is enhanced by the Multi-Purpose Canine, a carefully selected dog who has completed a 20-week Multi-Purpose Canine training course. Each dog is assigned a handler. The handler is a SEAL operator who trains the dog prior to deployment and remains with that dog throughout a deployment. In addition to accompanying foot, boat, or vehicle patrols, Multi-Purpose Canines can be inserted with their handler by tandem parachute, helicopter fast rope, or rappel. The Multi-Purpose Canine’s primary mission is explosive detection to provide warning of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). On indication from the dog of possible explosives, the handler marks the area where the item was found and EOD is notified to handle the threat. The Multi-Purpose Canine also possesses the ability to work on or off leash while performing other tasks, including search, locate, and apprehend enemy combatants as a nonlethal force option. In the event the target is barricaded, the dog is trained to bark alert until recalled by the handler. Multi-Purpose Canines are unable to target-discriminate, so care is used and escalation of force guidance considered prior to releasing the dog against a target. The Multi-Purpose Canine is also employed to detect enemy weapons caches.

Night Fox needs a dog to roll with. I figure most Joe Handlers are MPs, (a Master at arms would be a welcome addition to the Joes) there is something about Mutt that doesn't say MP to me.
I wish Hama would invent a whole new team and continue the practice of creating brand new characters every year. Pulling in more and more military units which are not represented.

Are you looking for plausible Codenames? I assume you have a place for all known named characters. COPS may have a few codenames to use, (BOWSER, TASER, NIGHTSTICK) GI Joe Extreme might have a few more. (BALLISTIC, GRILL, MOUSE) The Unit might have some as well?

Do you guys include Sidetrack and Side Track as separate characters? Not sure which is the right on, but I include the Ranger one in my Joeverse. Having both with the same name is just too confusing for me. There's just so many headswaps I have with older versions of characters that work out pretty good to make up for the missing Joes.

I believe they were SEALs. One of them has a youtube channel.

I always assumed Mutt was an MP, especially since the MOS of Working Dog Handler is listed under the Military Police Branch. It makes me wonder if Special Forces has some of their ODA soldiers as handlers and if Delta has actual Operators as handlers as well? |

Yeah I switched around names and professions for Action Force Tracker.
I mean why is the minesweeper named "Scout" and the Sapper named Tracker? For me "Scout" is a Tracker - Raoul from Spain. SAPPER is the Minesweeper/EOD guy - Wolfgang from Germany. I forgot about these guys for name inspiration https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ers_characters

Hmm...with this information I may need to move my dog handlers over to being actual operators instead of support.

I use them separately although I don't like them having the same code name. Nightstick is a good name for an MP. I may steal that one. I also can't decide on whether I should use Effects as a breaching expert for SRT or a Combat Engineer/Sapper. Could work either way.
If you use Side Track as a Sniper maybe Sureshot or Point-blank as an alternative Codename.
