Well thanks to everyone and their input I think I am FINALLY close to going with a structure for my Joe team. They are basically structured like Delta but their mission is to recapture or destroy weapons that have fallen into the wrong hands (corrupt governments or terrorist organizations). Therefore there are no tanks, artillery and jets on my Joe team. They have a very small fleet of Little Birds but most of their transportations is provided by the four branches.
I wanted to make most of the Joes actual operators on one of the three squadrons that deal in direct action and reconnaissance missions. I also wanted to keep the Joes clustered together in the years they came out. A few of my Joes seemed like their skills were too great to be operators that I threw them in a support squadron, but they would deploy with the regular operators on many types of missions. I am not going to try and figure out every position on the Joe team so I am focusing on the named characters and keeping unnamed "green shirts" to fill out a lot of the other roles. Right now I am focusing mostly on one of the three squadrons, mainly A Squadron. This squadron is made up of the 82-86 Joes. Here is what I have so far: A Squadron Headquarters: Squadron Commander: Hawk O-5 Squadron Executive Officer: Steeler O-4 Squadron Sergeant: Duke E-9 Squadron Operations Warrant Officer: Flint CW-3 Squadron Operations Sergeant: not sure who to use Squadron Supply Sergeant: not sure who to use Squadron Medical Sergeant: Lifeline E-7 Squadron CBRN Sergeant: Airtight E-6 Squadron Communications Sergeant: Grand Slam E-6 Squadron Armorer: not sure who to use Troop One: HQ: Troop Commander: Torpedo O-3 Troop Sergeant: Stalker E-8 Troop Communicator: Thunder Troop Medic: Spirit Alpha Team: Team Leader: Grunt E-7 Assistant Team Leader: Rock'n'Roll E-6 Zap E-6 Short-Fuze E-6 Snake-Eyes E-6 Clutch E-6 Bravo Team: Team Leader: Gung-Ho E-7 Assistant Team leader: Recondo E-7 Roadblock Snow Job Ripcord Airborne Troop Two: HQ: Troop Commander: Claymore O-3 Troop Sergeant: Leatherneck E-8 Troop Communicator: Low-Light E-6 Troop Medic: Barbecue Charlie Team: Team Leader: Shipwreck Assistant Team Leader: Wet-Suit Alpine Bazooka Quick-Kick Frostbite Delta Team: Team Leader: Beach Head Assistant Team Leader: Dusty Footloose Heavy Metal Crankcase Tollbooth Troop Three HQ: Troop Commander: Falcon O-3 Troop Sergeant: Outback E-8 Troop Communicator: Sneak Peek E-6 Troop Medic: Muskrat Echo Team: Team Leader: Starduster E-7 Assistant Team Leader: Tunnel Rat E-6 Iceberg Cross Country Crazy Legs Rumbler Foxtrot Team: Team Leader: Blizzard E-7 Assistant Team Leader: Shockwave E-6 Repeater Budo Hit&Run Spearhead EDIT: Forgot to add, if anyone has any other ideas for the Squadron HQ positions (and who to fill the ones I do not have anybody for) let me know. I am always open to suggestions. Last edited by john shaft; 09-05-2015 at 09:39 PM.. |

Those are all solid teams. You could have the three females from those first years to fill those Three squadron headquarters slots? Or Flash, Blowtorch? Sgt Slaughter?
I like your use of Drivers as Comms guys then they could serve dual purposes. Maybe switcing Lowlight with Heavy Metal? Did you toy with keeping the snow and Mountain guys together? You have guys from 1988 so you can match up to get you 6 man teams. I will have to post my new setup as well. I just wrote them all down.

oh, bugger. I forgot Ton Up on the AF birthplaces list. He's a Swede. The only new character in the 1985 series. He was Rock'n'Roll V1, packed with the second release of the Wolverine.

You have guys from 1988 so you can match up to get you 6 man teams. I will have to post my new setup as well. I just wrote them all down. I actually tried to make my six-man teams insertion specific (HALO, SCUBA, Mountain, and Mobility) but I would have had to sacrifice keeping the year each figure came out separated. I decided each Troop would have their standard six-man team for direct action purposes but if say a mission called for a four-man recon team to deploy via rebreathers then a mission commander could pull combat diver experienced individuals from different teams or even different Troops. So maybe Gung-Ho, Recondo (who I made combat diver qualified) from Bravo Team team up with Snake-Eyes from Alpha Team and Wet-Suit from Troop Two's Charlie Team. The books I read on Delta had people from different teams, Troops and Squadrons creating makeshift teams. I think in the book Inside Delta Force had the author (a sniper) teaming with another sniper from a different Squadron when they deployed to Lebanon. Plus this gives me the opportunity to have different Joes working together (much like the comics). Most of the other characters are in my Support Squadron. They deploy with the regular squadrons as needed. The other Joes (88 and up) I haven't placed into the B and C Squadrons yet. I mainly wanted to focus on A Squadron for my fanfics. Here is the lineup for my support squadron. Note, these are not the only members of these detachments. The Signals Detachment probably has an additional 20 unnamed members. I am focusing on named Joes only. E Squadron (Support): CBRN Detachment Clean-Sweep Ozone EOD Detachment Tripwire Deep Six Lightfoot Long Arm Military Working Dog Section Mutt Law Signals Detachment Breaker Dial Tone Dee-Jay Airwave Metalhead Sparks I felt these guys originally had MOS's that were more specific to communication devices, such as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant and Radio-Operator Maintainers. They are also proficient in several foreign languages. These guys are the signals interceptors (like the ones described in Dalton Fury's book) who deploy with the Squadrons and monitor radio transmissions. The Troop Communicators are guy who have some radio experience but their job is to keep in radio contact with the Troop Squadron Headquarters. I tried to use artillery guys for that purpose. I went the ZuluDelta route and in my Joe-verse the artillery guys are former Fire Support Specialists. Heavy Breacher Blowtorch Charbroil Barricade Medical Surgeon: Doc Computer Technology Mainframe Sgt. Hacker Hard Drive Kickstart Intelligence Scarlett Lady Jaye Jinx Chuckles Mace Big Brawler Agent Faces Helix Rook Training Wing Sgt Slaughter The Fridge Neither of these guys are their real life counterparts. The Fridge in my Joe-verse is just a guy who bear an uncanny resemblance to William Perry. Research and Development Section Commander: Gears G.I.Jane Hi-Tech Dodger Knockdown Blocker Blaster Flash Sci-Fi Red Spot Last edited by john shaft; 09-06-2015 at 09:38 AM.. |

Are Lifeline and Med Alert PJ's? I made Lifeline in my Joe-verse a former PJ and was considering Med Alert as well. From his card art he just looks like one. |

Thanks. I haven't thought about them. Lifeline just screams PJ to me as well, but then there is the whole Corpsman reference on his filecard.
I am making Sideswipe and Stretcher Corpsmen, but neither is on my Marine Expeditionary Recon Force. (The MERF)

I'm integrating Shockwave into one of my teams. I don't want to change the character too much, but would prefer that he had more of a military background rather than police SWAT.
Has anyone got any suggestions about which service would fit him best? |

Every Branch has some sort of SWAT team. Most are part of military police units.
Military SWAT | Security Forces I always assumed he was Army SRT since they never said otherwise. Same goes for Widescope and Lockdown.
