yeah, I saw about that. Makes me think UKSF should consider allowing women to try Selection. Don't change the standards, just see if anyone can pass it and then let them in if they do. 'S enough MEN can't pass, why not let the women try?

My thoughts exactly. Definitely do not lower the standards but at least give them a chance. They should also take it a step up. The military field tests various weapons and equipment, why not field test to see if a female soldier (who has passed Ranger School or whatever) has a positive or negative impact on the battlefield? |

Okay I want to talk about Snake-Eyes first filecard. It lists him as "underwater demolitions" and to my knowledge the only Army MOS that would be anywhere near that would be a Diver. However I believe they use it more for salvage versus actual combat-related applications. I definitely have Snake-Eyes as being SCUBA/Combat Diver-qualified but is there any other Army MOS or unit that would employ an "underwater demolitions" expert?
Also in my Joe-verse (which takes place in modern times) I keep a similar backstory for Snake-Eyes, Stalker and Storm Shadow (serving in a recon unit). However I am still debating on whether to make them a Special Forces unit or Ranger Reconnaissance Company. I definitely think Stalker and Snake-Eyes are more than qualified to be Special Forces. Stalker would definitely be a Medic and Snake-Eyes would either be a Medic or Engineer. His filecard states "holistic medicine" and although I understand that does not mean standard EMT-type training I figured maybe he has studied both. Plus the Joes definitely need more medics.... |

I believe there are some Delta or green beret types who are frogman qualified, so it might be part of his SF training

On a side note if Stalker and Snake-Eyes were indeed in the same unit then there could be a good chance that Stalker might also be SCUBA qualified. Maybe they served on a SCUBA ODA or a SCUBA RRC? |

How would you reinvent the Joes for the modern era? I would have those two as a modern ODA team in Afghanistan. Update Stalker's languages. Mountaineering is a useful skill. SCUBA would be useful if they were combating piracy.

eh, I already did that. Read my Black Sword fan-fic if you can find it in the FF forum. Stalker and Snake Eyes were in an ODA in Afghan, Snakes got injured, flew home, found his parents had died in a car-crash, recovered from his injuries and then joined Delta before joining the Joes.
The Joes are a SOCOM special task force. 2 MARSOC riflemen and a sniper (Gung-Ho, Leatherneck and Hollow-point), six SEALs (Torpedo, Wet Suit, Wet Down, Tracker, Night Fox and Depthcharge), a SWCC (Shipwreck), a buncha Green Berets (Flint, Stalker, Duke, Roadblock, Ambush, Lowlight), Hit&Run and Snakes from Delta, Wild Bill and Lift Ticket from the Night Stalkers, Major Altitude and Cloudburst from the USMC, Updraft and Windmill from the Navy as helo pilots, Lady Jaye as an ISA operator, Scarlett and Chuckles as CIA liasons, Mainframe as an Army computer techy, Hawk as the RE CO, and a shitload of Rangers (Clutch, Crankcase, Breaker, Dial Tone, Footloose, Spearhead, Recoil, Beach Head, Rock'n'Roll, Repeater, Bazooka, Zap, Short Fuse etc.) to support. Crosshairs as a Ranger sniper too. Humvees and Black Hawks and an Osprey as their vehicles. |

Also I know this has been brought up before but some people have said to use Rock'n'Roll as a Special Forces Weapons Sgt, mainly because he has a beard. I see the Joes as similar to Delta and thus less restrictive on facial hair and such. Although I think he would be good as a Weapons Sgt.... |
