A Chaplain's Asst provides some of the religious / morale issues the way a Chaplain does. He will coordinate services, ceremonies and other administrative services on behalf of the Chaplain and sometimes offer comfort / support to enlisted soldiers who may feel more comfortable confiding in another soldier rather than an officer or padre. Chaplain's Assistants also function as drivers and force protection for the Chaplain (who are not allowed to carry arms).
Oliverbox as an Army and SOF Chaplain can give you way more information but that's the gist of it. Doc I and II, and Wild Card are Chaplain's Assistants but as an enlisted specialty, neither of the Docs would be Chaplain's Assistants. This error is probably because Larry Hama envisioned Doc as a Navy enlisted corpsman before the people at Hasbro decided to make him an officer and changed his file-card. |

Well he is supposed to be a Shaman, someone whom villagers would typically turn to for all kinds of help; medical, spiritual, etc. So being a social services counselor makes sense. He's probably the closest thing to a Chaplain that the Joes have.
There are other Joes with social services as a SMS (Muskrat, Hardball, Footloose, Psyche-Out, Cutter). All of them would be involved in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (mostly organizing sports, entertainment, keeping the beer fridge stocked) but some like Psyche-Out, Spirit (and Devil's Due Frostbite) would be there for personal affairs including substance abuse counseling (Frostbite in the DDP Handbook was a substance abuse counselor). Special Services is different, but I don't know what that really is?

Considering that Muskrat's secondary specialty is "Social Services" on his file-card, how realistic is it that he would ever get the chance to use his boogie board in actual combat? I mean, in a swamp... like, he might get 30 feet on uncluttered water if he can get up to speed and not get shot? I suppose it has natural buoyancy, but otherwise, I'm at a loss as to what purpose a boogie board would serve a swamp fighter...

Yeah it's dumb. Maybe some Dynamtite or a little pontoon boat? Jet ski? Gator traps?

THere you go. THis is why I figured maybe Jet ski so Muskrat can wakeboard with a Budweiser in his hand like a "REAL" American Hero.

I seem to recall LH saying that the boogie board was bulletproof, and I remember him wearing it like a backpack in the comics. At any rate, he's not wearing it in the new comics.

So, Lady Jaye and Scarlett take a step closer to reality this week. The first two women will graduate from Ranger School. 19 entered the training, two will graduate Friday. Of the others, some have been recycled into later classes, but those two will (wait for it)

Back to Muskrat and the reason he carries a boogie board:
The video above is awesome! However, this now raises even more questions for me. 1. Do I have to buy a separate "tow rope" for my Muskrat action figure? 2. When would he use the tow rope? Behind a Joe vehicle, or to snag an enemy vehicle so he could "follow it"? 3. Why not just stay in a boat? Wouldn't that be safer and easier to use a gun with? (Sorry, I think I got us off the file-card subject of the figure!) Last edited by seaneley; 08-19-2015 at 03:23 PM.. |
