Anyway, I'm streching Link Talbot's filecard a bit... he's a veterinarian, but he's also a SEAL SO, the SEALs and the Raiders need a corpman, Link seems like a logical choice without it being TOO much of a leap. what do y'all think?

I agree. The whole veterinarian thing made no sense. He's much better off as a SEAL corpsman. What did you guys think of the announcement that MARSOC groups are now going to be called Raiders? Personally, I think it fits.

Wow Marine Deadpool does good work, Oliver do you do all the parts selection and paint schemes or is it collaborative? Btw, apologies if you've discussed it before but looking at the other thread, who is Crow's Nest ? Is he a new custom or an existing character ??

I know they leave their ranks at the door and become a "Trooper" but was assuming they left their MOS's as well (can anybody confirm or dispute this?). Since all Troopers learn new skills and each patrol typically has a signals expert, linguist, demolitions expert, and a medic I figured someone like Airtight in the Joe-universe would not focus on his CBR skills if he became an operator. He would learn one of the four I had mentioned in order to round out a 4-man patrol. Granted he would never lose his CBR skills, but I imagine it would not be his primary focus any more. The same could be said of all the armor and artillery soldiers since the SAS does not deploy that kind of equipment. Although someone like Lifeline or Tripwire would continue on with their skills in medical and demolitions respectively. More and more I am leaning towards the Joe team being more like the SAS in my Joe-verse. I read a lot on them on the Internet and have also watched all the episodes of "SAS Survival Secrets" on Youtube. It just seems like SAS Troopers are more robust and they can encompass a lot more types of scenarios (hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, direct action, etc). It opens more possibilities for story-telling or creating dioramas and such. Last edited by john shaft; 06-21-2015 at 09:30 AM.. |

Awesome SEAL, Oliver. I think Talbot as a medic is a great choice. I also use him as a SEAL medic cross-trained to work with a MK 8 Marine Mammal System (MMS) Team that uses dolphins to identify safe corridors to land SEALs or Marines on shore.

I'm totally in favor of it. It think it's great - it's historically significant and it ties into the history of the USMC, and it helps with recruiting. All the other branches have attractive names for their special operations units: SEALs, Green Berets, PJ's, Rangers... Raiders sounds a lot better than MARSOC.

A few of the characters are original: Bullfrog and Crows Nest are like that. Sometimes I just want to round out the roster a little bit, but we have tried to include EVERY Joe SEAL, even Harpoon from G.I. Joe Extreme. We're about to get started on a Marine Raider Team... it's going to be even better than the SEALs. We're very excited. I've already sent him all the parts, and his paint ideas are outstanding. I'm excited for y'all to see them.
