Basically my Joe Division has an attached CID battalion led by LTC Surefire. His XO is MAJ Bullet Proof, and my primary CID Team consists of a CW2 (haven't thought of a good code name yet; maybe Magnum?) and SGT Chuckles.

I haven't hammered out all of the details yet but I envision my Joes with a multi- element team that is akin to all of the alphabet agencies rolled into one.
SWAT guys like Shockwave and Wide Scope work with other police like Law & Order on a Joe SRT for scenarios in an urban environment (Cobra has attacked a lab and taken hostages or some such). Then you have guys like Chuckles, Faces and Mace who are undercover. I see them like John Travolta in The General's Daughter or Basic or Tom Jane in Punisher. I think Psyche Out fits in this group somehow too, but I'm not sure. Sure Fire would be the lead with Bullet-Proof as his second. Last edited by Topside; 06-09-2015 at 01:59 PM.. |

Maybe because his codename should be for a desert trooper instead. I have Effects on my BATTLE Force as an 18C Last edited by Topside; 06-09-2015 at 04:31 PM.. |

Here are some relevant quotes direct from the field manuals on CID. These might help clarify some of the roles CID play:
USACIDC is the sole Army agency that is responsible for investigating felony crimes. USACIDC concentrates efforts on serious crimes, such as wrongful deaths, controlled substance offenses, theft...fraud, sexual misconduct, assaults, cyber crimes, and other national security offenses. The USACIDC also conducts sensitive and special investigations involving senior Army officials and those associated with classified programs. ... USACIDC units investigate offenses against U.S. forces or property committed in an area of operations. CID groups are strategic-level subordinate units to USACIDC and provide mission command, strategic planning, and supervision of subordinate CID battalions. CID groups are staffed with officers, warrant officers, enlisted Soldiers, and DA civilians... CID battalions usually support a corps or division AOR. CID elements are operational units that are subordinate to a CID battalion... CID elements are commanded by an Army warrant officer, typically a chief warrant officer three or four. The element commander, referred to as the special agent in charge, or the detachment commander supervises all aspects of the element... The special agent in charge will have a varied number of team chiefs (normally warrant officers) with subordinate warrant officers or enlisted special agents who conduct investigations. Organic to every CID element is an element noncommissioned officer, who is identified as the detachment sergeant and is the senior enlisted special agent in the element. Common Organization for CID: CID Group x 3 1. CO (O6) 2. Ops Officer (W5) 3. CSM (E9) -CID Battalion x 3 1. CO (O5) 2. Ops Officer (W4-5) 3. CSM or 1SG --CID Element/Detachment x 3-4 1. CO (O3) 2. Ops Officer (W4) 3. Criminal Intel Officer (W3) 4. Detachment NCO (E7) 5. Ops NCO (E7) ---CID Team x 8 1. CID Agent/Team Leader (W2-3) 2. CID Agent (E5-7) So like what you have I will probably make Chuckles part of a separate detachment, unless I go with the whole "leave your MOS at the the door and become a trooper" much like the SAS does. EDIT: On a side note, has anyone else considered making Tripwire Navy EOD? His dad was career Navy so maybe he followed his father's footsteps? Plus it would make him combat-diver qualified and possibly HALO-qualified. I attempt to make my Joes either of them (or both) just so they do not have as many restrictions (such as needing enough combat-diver Joes to pull off a certain mission). John, Where did you hear that once badged SAS operators check their MOS at the door? I didn't think they did that. They definitely don't in the NZSAS and Australian SASR. Just curious.

Some MOSs might be more useful than others. For example, a communicator or signals intel guy will most likely continue to do a lot of that work. A supply tech or accounting tech, probably not as much. I know with the Green Berets, a field medic is likely to stay a field medic but to the best of my knowledge, a guy whose MOS wasn't used in the Green Berets could become a field medic. |

My father was a Marine until 79 so it wasn't too long before Tripwire came out that I was part of the military family. Alas I never joined the service but I so wanted to be a Marine my whole life until I went to college. I really liked Tripwire until his klutzy personality came out more in Comics. Plus he didn't have a gun so mine detecting isn't as fun of a playability feature. I enjoy the spin IDW gave him as it's implied he's a Green Beret I think. But back to Navy EOD. I take one of the Retaliation Troopers with the HALO helmet and make him Master Chief, and take one with the mohawk and call him Effects. Tripwire uses almost the same shade of green. Then there is his rank on his arm which almost looks Navy. Upside down chevrons. Although I think it's a UK staff Sgt rank: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...-OR-07.svg.png

This naval EOD discussion reminded me of the "corpsman" remark in Lifeline's file card. Does anyone use Lifeline as a Navy corpsman instead of an army medic?

I do not. If TigerForce Lifeline had less Yellow I might consider it, but I haven't got mine yet. I plan on renaming half of those guys.
I got some of the attendee stuff so far. but I think I'm going to make these guys all Navy SWCC. Not sure about Recondo (He looks good and Big Brawler seems good) Felino: will now be Jaguar (Navy SWCC) Stalker: will now be Triton like the Brazilian Counterpart. I'll have to ditch the beret. Maybe he and recondo can switch?: YOJOE.COM | Triton (Brazil) Dial-tone looks terrible so I don't know. Operation Brazil is still my favorite anyway although a littl overdressed for the Jungle. But now Lifeline? Maybe a new character. What's a good Corpsman name? Stitches? I would be happy if they do a POC style Stretcher as a Corpsman. Wreckage will stay Wreckage as well, but now what to do with my long stand in ROC Beachhead (the one that came with Rollbar): Wayne "Beachhead" Sneeden (v13) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive
