You are correct, I did forget her. In my Joe-verse I don't know what to do with her character, as I am trying to keep it real as possible. I believe women are not allowed as FO's though (someone correct me if I am wrong).
For the environment-specific Joes I still feel like they need a skill besides being proficient in a jungle, desert, arctic, etc climate/environment. I also feel that way about Joes that are proficient in a certain type of weapon (such as Rock'n'Roll with a machine gun, Savlo with anti-tank missiles. etc). I would definitely keep Pathfinder as being "jungle-savy" but as an FO he increases his usefulness in any environment. As for the very specific roles assigned in filecards, I agree. That's why I like the Brit SAS model, where a soldier specializes in a combat skill (as I recall it's something like comms, medic, languages or explosives) and in an insertion skill (airborne, maritime, mountain, vehicle). Add in rotation through hostage rescue tasks and training in a variety of other skills (sniping, support weapons, call for fire etc) and you have a well rounded soldier. As a tangential note, I'm not a fan of turning the Joes into an A Team. That's already well managed by the Green Berets when it comes to FID. Also, the 12-man team is a bit small for fighting, which is why other forces are 14-16 strong. I prefer to build them into reconnaissance or strike teams, each requiring varied skills. |

There you go Female FOs do exist. I wonder how big her team was a full company?
Sometimes I just grab a handful of joes and make the teams random. Snow guys aside. BUt whoever is the highest ranking is the troop leader and everyone else just falls into place. But later I want some order so I go back to organizing.

18A Falcon 180A Flint 18Z Duke 18F Recondo 18B Drop Zone 18B Outback 18C Static Line 18C Ripcord 18D Air Raid 18D Stalker 18E Airwave 18E Breaker I just cheat and give the non-HALO guys HALO-qualifications. Or make them separate ODA's (one HALO and one ruck) but then I would have to fill in the gaps as well. Quote:
Rock'n'Roll is another one of those guys who looks good as a Special FOrces Weapons Sgt. Zulu's take was amazing. Especially with the Beard. I agree about the environment Joes having a universal Skill aside from climate. How do you factor in the Joes who have a Training MOS then? It would seem useful foreign INternal Defense tasks in the wheelhouse of both MARSOC and SF

On women forward observers, I can't speak for the US, but that's not the case in other forces: Nichola Goddard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I would only use an actual ODA team if my Joes were a joint task force and not a permanent team. I still cannot decide how to structure my Joes as of yet. I admit it is fun to organize them different ways but at some point I want to decide on something so I can continue with my fanfics. |

Grid Iron leads my infantry team under Col Courage. Courage is in charge of all the "traditional" units- infantry, artillery, mg squad.

I just noticed something while organizing my filecard project: Airwave (from the Sky Patrol) and Colonel Courage (from Battle Corps) have the same filename, Cliff V. Mewett.
And no, they're not the same person (Airwave is white guy born in Kentucky, Courage is a black dude from Boston). May I present the probable inspiration, Hasbro Packaging Engineer Cliff Mewett! Last edited by Tyroc; 01-23-2018 at 09:39 AM.. |

Nice find! I guess he was so important that he warranted two different action figures named after him. lol On to the CID Joes (Chuckles and Sure Fire), why would the Joe team need people to investigate their own team? I am assuming that is what a CID agent does, investigate issues within a unit? |

Delta has a CID detachment according to a document I read which lists all the CID detachments across the US Army. Also, Sure Fire would be a MP officer, not CID. I think CID billets are limited to enlisted and Warrant Officer ranks. Btw, welcome to the thread John! |

I think that in addition to investigating the unit and their families, the CID team also does things like biometrics, interrogates detainees, liases with law enforcement, etc.

I double-checked Sure Fire's filecard and it does list him as CID. Probably another one of those instances where Hasbro didn't bother to check the facts on the position (much like Doc being a Chaplain's Assistant). From what I understand Chuckles is used as a spy infiltrating Cobra. Would a CID agent really be doing that kind of work? How does everyone else use Chuckles? I originally put him in my Intelligence Platoon but am wondering how best to utilize him. |
