That's what I thought it stood for.
I've seen, on active duty, when someone doesn't have a middle name it read, NMN (No Middle Name) on their paperwork or dogtags.

No Red Star is US Army 0-3 Captain equivalent and Brekhov is 0-6 Colonel Equivalent. I think the NATO ranks don't apply to the Russians because they have three Lieutenant ranks unlike the US military. The NATO ranks are off by one when compared to US military ranks because some nations don't have both Lt. classifications.

You're very right. In the Commonwealth, SGT Major is a duty position not a rank. There are two (actually three) Warrant Officer classes. WO is the Army Sgt Major, there is only 1 of him. WO2 are Company Sgt Majors and Quartermaster Sgt Majors (equivalent to a S4 NCOIC) then WO1 who are Battalion / Regiment SGT Majors.

Did anybody else figure out that Overlord was originally meant to be Cobra Commander's clone?

I think it was first mentioned in Mark Bellomo's Ultimate Guide.
Personally I am glad it didn't end up that way because we got a new character but it might have made for an interesting storyline had Hama gone with that.

Yeah, now that I look at the file-card, there's no mention of Overlord being Cobra Commander's clone, but when you compare the face of Overlord with the Hall of Fame unmasked Cobra Commander and the "Space Force" Cobra Commander with the removable helmet, it's obvious that they're supposed to look alike. The "sinister" arched eyebrow is a dead giveaway on all the figures.

I don't think he was supposed to be a clone but just in hiding and managed to work his way back up through the ranks.
In my verse i tend to follow the DDP comics with Overlord's personality as Serpentor's head general. He is also head of Cobra SOCOM so Range-Vipers, Jungle-Vipers, Rock-Vipers, Desrt Scorpions fall under him.

I just got my Acid Rain "Bob" figure. I got him with the full intention of making him "Boffin" from Action Force's Unproduced Special Weapons Force team. I believe he was a Scientist and also its commander. But there is no official background info on him. Is anyone familiar with the Roll out Roll call exclusive filecard or the Rising Suns comic version of him?
As soon as I saw Bob I thought that's Boffin. And Special Weapons Force is way better than Battle Force 2000.

I used to be on BFTB and I wrote a profile for Boffin that Jamar was going to use in Rising Sun. Whether he did or not, I don't know. I did profiles for all of SWF.
Boffin Real Name: Professor Anthony Bruce Richards (PHD) Born: Chelsea, London. PMS: Weapons design SMS: Astrophysicist Born in Chelsea, Richards went to Harrow before heading for Oxford where he studied physics. Recruited to the British Army for a laser-weapons programme, he was granted a commission as a Major. Retains the rank today, though it's largely honorary. Spent most of the next twenty years at Porton Down developing high-tech weapons. Recruited to head up Special Weapons Force shortly after Action Force's formation. Boffin’s innovations range from modifying normal assault rifles to be near-silent for the added stealth factor, to developing directed energy weapons and from developing autonomous cruise missiles capable of targeting multiple sites to a programme to create unmanned fighter jets. He was involved in adapting the Dart, Shaft and Lance units from the original American PAC-RAT designs and assisted in the development of the GI Joe Skystorm X-Wing. “Boffin’s one of the best weapons developers around and is constantly amazing Action Force Command. The budget department hates him, though, his designs are so expensive.” |
