Flint has helo pilot as his secondary skill.. and Airborne was always the co-pilot for Wild Bill in the comic and cartoons. Has anyone mentioned Major Altitude?
Off the top of my head the helo pilots are: Wild Bill Lift Ticket Flint Updraft Major Altitude Windmill Blades Red-Zone Glenda

Cannonball is a helo-pilot / driver too
As for Delta, I've read numerous sources that describe Delta having its own Aviation squadron made up of 3 platoons; Red, Green and Blue. Mostly Blackhawks and Littlebirds, some painted in civilian colors. In his book "Not A Good Day to Die", Sean Naylor discusses it and also writes about MG Dell Dailey the JSOC commander during Operation Anaconda. He had a background as a Ranger before he went to Flight School. He flew with the Night Stalkers as a Platoon and Company commander, he then commanded the Delta Aviation Squadron (as a LTC) before becoming CO of the 160th (as a COL) before his staff roles in SOCOM and JSOC. I have always had a hard time with Cannonball being a pilot. His filecard states him as being able to pilot the Helicopter but the rank doesn't jive.
Sorta like how Bullet-Proof and Sonic Falcon are listed as vehicle proficient with the Desert Apache. I just disregard it. Matt Trakker is my RHINO copter pilot. That and the ROCC have MASK written all over it.

Zap also flew helos in the comic. He didn`t enjoy it, claiming he was rusty, but he still got stick time on a a helo in the first issue, and in a Dragonfly (with Rock n Roll as the chin gunner) in a later issue.

I'm curious about the ranking of our foreign-born "G.I. Joes".
Red Star is a "Captain" in the Russian Navy. Is he an OF-5 Kapitan 1st Rank? Big Ben is a "Staff Sergeant" (the highest sergeant pay grade in the British Army). His rank is OR-7. That's equivalent to an E-7, right? (I know the NATO "other" ranks rise from OR-1 to OR-10). Skymate is a "Corporal" in the Australian SAS. I'm confident that makes him an OR-4 (equivalent to a U.S. E-4 Specialist). Back-Stop, who was born in Canada, has no rank! He's the only Joe I know of so far who doesn't. |

Red Star is Russian Naval Infantry which follows the same ranking as regular Russian army so he is just 0-3 Captain.

So a guy like Skymate may be an OR4 but probably has at least 2-3 years of Big Army soldiering under his belt prior to selection. Big Ben as a Staff Sgt would be a very senior NCO. In the absence of a Troop Commander (Officer), it's usually the Staff Sgt who will lead the entire troop (usually 15 guys). Also one has to bear in mind that the Commonwealth have much less ranks than their US brothers, so there is more of a burden of responsibility and leadership amongst the corporals and sergeants than in the States. |

It's also worth pointing out Backstop was born in Canada, but his parents emigrated to the US with him, so he became a naturalised US citizen and probably served in the US Army before the Joes.

How many of the action force guys are Canadians?
Beaver? Is he the only one? The club has done a decent enough job with the Action Force guys they have brought in. I wonder who will be the next one we see? I like to see what they do with the Filecards. None are represented in the FSS figures this year. Not sure who I want to see next. Skip, Eagle, Baron, come to mind. I so wish that con set was not O-ring.
