Yeah, the MEU is what my Joes are like.
There's only like 200 Joes or so. No major support, they do it all on their own. No aircraft carrier.

Yeah, it is actually 4 platoons to a Troop... To use the Cavalry term. I have 32 desert Grizzly tanks and 16 green/Night Force Grizzly tanks. But I also have over 100 modern HiISS tanks, divided into different regiment by color. It is fun to play tanks. I also have about 6 BTR Grizzly tanks. and 24 BTR HISS tanks (Para-Vviper Corps). I use them as airborne/amphib armor... they can be deployed in pieces and assembled on the ground in mountain/difficult terrain.

I'm writing on St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians, specifically the Armor of God passage in chapter 6. Too much more detail and I might get censored by the powers that be. ;)

I envision the Joes set up like a Marine MEU. That's a 2200 man unit. However this allows for an Aircraft Carrier and an Air Combat Wing, with Helicopters and Jets. You could shrink this down to say an all land vehicle command unit. (The MCC coupled with the General, Thunderclap, Rolling Thunder and a ROCC)
At the heart of this unit is a Ground Combat Element about half of the strength of the unit at 1000 men. This is comprised of an infantry Battalion (lets say 500 greenshirts) reinforced with a Tank Platoon (4 Tanks) as well as a 7-16 vehicle Light Armored Reconnaissance Company, Artillery battery, and a reconnaissance company. This reconnaissance company is the what I think is the core idea of what is close to a G.I.Joe unit. This is the Marine Special Mission Capable unit with in the MEU. Maritime Special Purpose Force - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This could be 350 men, but I like to think the Joes can do things on the cheap with less. It relies on the main body for logistical support but it has small units within itself that fit many of the roles Joes fill. It even has a SEAL team included in a nice little bow. Command Element Commander, MSPF Team(s), Communications Detachment Team(s), Human Exploitation Team (HET) Team(s), Medical Section Team(s), Intelligence section from MEU(SOC) Security Element The security element is normally structured around a platoon provided by the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) and may be augmented by the Naval Special Warfare Task Units (NSWTU) embarked within the Amphibious Ready Group. The security element will act as a reinforcing unit, a support unit, a diversionary unit, or an extraction unit. Rifle Platoon (-) (reinforced) Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Strike Platoon, NSWTU, Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) (as required) Assault Element (AE) The AE is the main effort of the MSPF and is organized to perform assault, explosive breaching, internal security, and sniper functions. The assault function will normally be executed by the Force Recon detachment. Mission-specific augmentation (e.g., additional sniper support, specialized demolitions, explosive ordnance disposal, signals intelligence/electronic warfare (SIGINT/EW), etc.) will be provided from other MEU(SOC) assets or from the NSWTU embarked with the ARG. Detachment, Force Recon Direct Action Platoon (DAP) Team(s), Security, Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) Company Team, Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Detachment Team(s), Combat Photo Detachment Reconnaissance and Surveillance Element (R&S) The Reconnaissance and Surveillance Element normally consists of the Scout Sniper Platoon from the Battalion Landing Team. Team(s), Scout Sniper Platoon Team(s), Radio Reconnaissance Team (Signals Intelligence) Support Element (You could swap or add just about any unit that you like if it doesn't fit in the main body) The support element normally is composed of assets from the BLT Reconnaissance Platoon coupled with elements of the Aviation Combat Element (ACE), Radio Battalion Detachment, Communications Detachment, and HET assets from the MEU(SOC) CE. Additional capability may be provided by the NSWTU embarked with the Amphibious Ready Group. Team(s), Reconnaissance Team(s), Communications Detachment Team(s), Radio Battalion Detachment Team(s), HET Detachment NSWTU, PHIBRON (as required) Aviation Support Element And going back to the main Combat Element just looking at the cool vehicles they deploy you could swap all out for a joe vehicle of your choice and still cover many of the vehicles without the unit getting too big. Qty Nomenclature 4 M1A1 main battle tank 7-16 Light Armored Vehicle 15 Assault Amphibious Vehicle 6 155mm howitzer: M777 8 M252 81mm mortar 8 BGM-71 (TOW) missile system 8 FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile 4-6 AH-1W SuperCobra attack helicopters 3 UH-1N Twin Huey utility helicopter 12 CH-46E Sea Knight medium lift assault helicopter 4 CH-53E Super Stallion heavy lift assault helicopter 6 AV-8B Harrier jet aviation 2 KC-130 Hercules re-fueler/transport aircraft Note: usually maintained in the continental United States

The MEU is as close to what the Joes would be like in "real life". If the Joes are the SpecOps component, then Green Shirts / Steel Brigade could easily be the Battalion Landing Team. |

Hi Chaps,
Hope you're all well, it's been quiet. I was looking at some photos of the search for MH370 and saw some pictures of divers from the Royal Australian Navy's Clearance Diving Team... in camouflaged wetsuits: Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370: Divers Search For Debris While Passenger And Crewmember Families Hold Candlelight Vigils [PHOTOS] Which reminded me of this question I asked many moons ago: Quote:
Onto another question that the John Clark custom thread reminded me of, rather circuitously. When Clark/Kelly is heading back into Vietnam he's said to be dressed in a camouflaged wetsuit for his trip from the submarine. Do and did such things exist? I imagine they do, but does anyone have a useful way of finding pictures of them, as if I search using Google I either get wetsuits for fish watchers with pictures of coral on them, or camouflaged ones which are sold to members of the public because afaict they look cool.
Does anyone have any proper reference materials? Thanks https://www.facebook.com/RoyalAustra...levant_count=1 https://www.facebook.com/RoyalAustra...levant_count=1 Anyone seen anything else about either the current (Australian or other) camo or anything that may have been used in the past? P.S. Am currently reading Blind Man's Bluff, interesting stuff, definitely recommended (I'm only 14 years late ;)). |
