Not sure what it's supposed to be (the badge on his arm). Never had the vintage figure, but from looking at pictures on the 'net. it's definitely not the actual Recondo Patch or Jungle Expert Patch that they used to issue in the 1970s and 1980s. Given Ron Rudat's interest in pre-Vietnam War militaria and how he sometimes put in all sorts of "Easter eggs" in figures he designed, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a unit insignia from WWII or earlier.
EDIT: Ah, I just realized, were you asking about Mainframe's shoulder insignia? Not sure what it is, but it looks like it might have been inspired by the US Army's III Corps insignia. EDIT II: Just checked again, and I think Mainframe's shoulder patch might be based on the unit insignia for the 3rd Marine Division (if you go by the card art... the patch/insignia on the figure itself is more ambiguous).

The Special Operations TACPs are part of the 17th ASOS. They are considered the top 10% of the TACPs.
http://www.benning.army.mil/tenant/1...0Recruting.pdf 17th ASOS transitions from ACC to AFSOC Looks like they focus on supporting the Rangers and Special Forces. The video from my previous post mentioned that a few of them have achieved Tier 1 status. Aligned w/ Regimental Special Troops Battalion (RRC)** **81 person squadron (currently 75% manned)

radio operators/signallers don't just use the radio. trades in the British Army's Royal Signals Corps include guys to repair generators, guys to set up computer networks, guys to do electronic warfare (jamming enemy comms and intercepting enemy comms) and other stuff besides. there's more to it than "Dragonfly 1-2, this is Dee-Jay, sitrep, troops in contact, need a strafe run on the bunker Victor 9-9, east to west. Closest friendlies 100m south. danger close." or "Tomahawk 4-4 this is Breaker, we're at LZ Delta, need extraction now."
Royal Signals Trades - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Although Recoil might not be Signal Corps either. Sneak-Peek is obviously not Signal Corps so which guys get radio operator training?

How's about the unproduced Tornado Twins as Combat Weathermen?

It was sort of a rhetorical question. I'm assuming most units don't get an imbedded TACP or CCT. I see all those guys as mostly Headquarters guys except Recoil and Airwave. But all are portrayed as Infantrymen. but they all would be Signals Corps along with Scoop and Hardrive and maybe Hi-Tech.
Although Recoil might not be Signal Corps either. Sneak-Peek is obviously not Signal Corps so which guys get radio operator training? YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Backblast |

Of course Im on my faux-smart fone, so I cant click on links that well.
Troynos, I made Pathfinder my USAF SOWT. Because, in my studies of the Air Force, the D-Day Pathfinders were also placed into the Air Force when the Air Force was authorized in 1947. Yet, The Tornado Twins sounds like an even greater SOWT "team". Especially in my experience, since McConnell AFB in Wichita was trashed in 1991 by a tornado. Were there any names or info released for the twins?
