He's probably busy with school (and work), isn't he working on his doctorate?
Where's Tanksmasher? since we're on the subject. Nice info on the 9th ID Zulu, Thank you. I have two of those Desert Patrol Vehicles. I'd love to get a few more one of these days. Shipping has just been pricey lately since the Aussie dollar has slipped below parity with the Greenback. Last edited by Tyroc; 06-26-2013 at 11:39 AM.. |

If you really want to get real-world accurate with it, you can probably chop off the top and repaint a 1:18 Mercedes G-Class (the base vehicle for the IFAV) but the only 1:18 G-Class wagons I know of are the real expensive die-cast metal ones made by Auto Art (a Japanese model car company) that routinely go for $180 or more on eBay. I know Maisto used to make significantly cheaper G-Class models that sold in the $30 to $50 range, but IIRC, they were in 1:24 scale. Last edited by zuludelta; 06-26-2013 at 06:44 PM.. |

Anyone here use Bullhorn as an officer? In another thread, it was mentioned that Hasbro may have screwed up on his rank, to which I agreed. If you look at his collar, it looks like he wears Captain's bars.

Two examples of enlisted characters getting promoted to officers (the opposite of what happened to Bullhorn) and getting their filecards extensively rewritten are Steeler and Doc. Steeler's rank in the original typewritten document for his dossier was Sergeant (E-5) but somewhere between Hama's submission of the dossier to Hasbro and the publication of the card, it was changed to Second Lieutenant (O-1) and the text changed to reflect his new rank. Doc, on the other hand, was originally intended by Hama to be a Navy corpsman (a.k.a. a combat medic serving with the Marines) with the pay-grade of E-4 (petty officer, 3rd class) but the filecard was rewritten by Hasbro's copy editors to turn him into an Army Captain and an actual physician. The most commonly known instance of ambiguous service affiliation is Mainframe: he has the Marine globe and anchor on his helmet but he has an Army Combat Infantryman badge and Army Parachutist Badge on his chest (they're on the wrong side, too), so Hama had to come up with the convoluted explanation in the filecard that he used to be an Army infantryman who fought in Vietnam (at that point in time when he was writing the filecard, only infantrymen who had seen combat in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam were eligible to wear the CIB), then re-upped later as a Marine. Another interesting case of Army/Marines design confusion is Repeater... he's described as an Army guy in his filecard, but if you look at his hat in the card art, he has both an Army Ranger tab and a Navy & Marine Corps Parachutist Insignia. I suspect that whomever designed the action figure probably intended for the character to be a Marine—the camo pattern on his uniform looks to me like the Experimental T-pattern Urban Camouflage that select USMC units trialed back in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s (see attached pic). Yeah, Hasbro wasn't always accurate when it came to ranks and insignia.

the Joes definitely need a JTAC. I'm reading Fire Strike 7/9 a true life story about Sgt. Paul 'Bommer' Grahame, a JTAC in the British Army in Afghanistan and it's clearly seriously important job for deconflicting the air support, making sure friendlies don't get hit by the air strike and calling the strike in.
also strikes me how frickin' stupid the airstrike in Transformers is, since the Warthogs attack Scorponok flying straight at the friendlies and civvies in the village! |

It looks cool.
I added Airstrike a couple pages back. Airforce Tactical Air Control Party Specialist. Which is what Tyrese Gibson was in Transformers. Link to the custom and filecard: http://forums.yojoe.com/customs-fan-...pecialist.html

Speaking of Transformers. I love the Specter gunship that the team calls in. Absolutely awesome piece of military hardware.
The Joes need an AC-130 Lockheed AC-130 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
