They would have some air support, but would not be engaging in many (if any) dogfights. The Rattler is based on the A-10 Thunderbolt, the tank-killer which is an air-to-ground attack plane. The Rattler's VTOL capabilities would also be better suited to a mobile unit that can set up bases anywhere at anytime.

Yeah, I still have a Tiger Rat. Piloted by a Marine pilot, for close air support. Inspired by "Flying Leathernecks". MAS-X also has 3 Armadillo's, a Snowcat, Sky Hawk Mark 1, 1A and 2. Then the RHINO & a Sigma 6 ROCC, which the ROCC "jet" is a drone.

Pretty much any Joe vehicle is open except for the heavy armor and fighter jets. Just don't have a use for them.

I'd go with "Lailah" or "Lilah." I know it sounds odd to give her a "name" as a code name, but Lady Jaye and Scarlett are sort of in the same boat. Two reasons why "Lailah/Lilah" could work as a really, really geeky homage:
That's some next-level Joe-nerd knowledge you could be dropping with just a simple code name. You never cease to amaze me Zulu. I was planning to add her to my verse but I needed a figure but I didn't like shooter either. (Why Freestyle wasn't Shooter I'll never know. Quote:
The idea sounds great, I had concerns how would that work for the Joe Team. I just cant imagine how to shrink down the JOE size to 40 members. In this "HUMINT" set up, would there be one officer and 40-ish enlisted? It sorta sounds like alot of the same acronyms that was introduced to me in the Movie "The Green Zone". As you know I like the small compact idea, but I still think my JOE-verse is too large with 150 (143 mission + 7 Pentagon) slots. My Joe-Verse is set up in the midst of the 1980's. Being the 79th Joint Operations Experiment, Codenamed "GI JOE" as a test bed for the current SOCOM & JSOC.
-Pentagon -Command -6 "OD-A" style elements [Standard, Air Assault, Military Freefall, River/Coast Operations, Amphibious and Urban Operations]. -1 Platoon (ranger qualified) 2 regular squads, 1 public assessment safety squad (hazmat, fire, medic) and 1 Weapons Squad. -AIRMO (Cargo & Helicopter) -MAS-X (Mobile Armored Strike-eXperimental) -Color Guard. er).

Buffalo Wing. I might steal that for Ice Cream Soldier. I was planning on using POC Charbroil as Ice Cream Soldier, but Buffalo Wing is a much better name. Plus he's a Barbecue Chef (Although Blast-Off is the one from Missouri?)

In my Joe-verse flamethrower "troopers" are assigned to Hazmat Control. I forgot who originally came up with that idea here in the filecard thread. I liked it and ran with it and made them part of PASS. Public Assessment Safety Squad for Medical, Fire & Hazmat personel. My "Fire Truck" for Barbecue & Buffalo Wing is the 2001 Desert Striker. Not too many modifications, just a hose leading from the 2 "drums" to the "Deck Gun" and a lightbar. Then, my Joe-verse Decon Hazmat Response Vehicle for Airtight, Ozone and Flash is the True Heroes Police van. Finally rounding out the "2nd PASS" vehicles are 2 "Big Lots" pick-up variant Humvee's, one for Patchwork & Doc, the other is for Charbroil & Blowtorch. Note: Doc in my verse is an enlisted medic. Parts used for Buffalo Wing: -Body: 25th Blowtorch -Head: Toys R Us Green shirt 4 pack & Firefly set 2008 v1a brown hair.

Some notes on the 9th Infantry Division:
I've always wondered if the Rudat-era Joe toy designers (1982 to 1987) and maybe even Larry Hama consciously took some inspiration from the now-inactive US Army 9th Infantry Division in their work for GI Joe. As Rudat recounted, he and other GI Joe designers were occasionally able to visit military installations for their research for toy designs (for instance, he and his design team actually toured a working, active-duty aircraft carrier compiling references for the USS Flagg). Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the 9th Infantry Division was supposed to be a core part of the "Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force" (what can be described as a precursor/early parallel to today's USCENTCOM and to some degree, the modern USSOCOM). The 9th Infantry Division was also involved in testing "motorized infantry" tactics (as opposed to the usual mechanized infantry), and as such, certain 9th ID units were equipped with many prototype/experimental vehicles that were never adopted on a wide-scale. They were the primary unit to test the various HMMWV prototypes, for instance:
And of course, the 9th ID's most well-known test vehicle was their "sand rail"-type desert patrol vehicles (DPVs), which were eventually adopted by the US Navy SEALs. (Couldn't find a picture of an actual 9th ID DPV, though) The 9th Infantry Division also took part in the ACVT (Armored Combat Vehicle Technology) Program according to unclassified government documents, although whether or not they received for testing the High-Survivability Test Vehicle-Lightweight (HSTV-L), I don't know. The HSTV-L should look mighty familiar to any Joe fan: Actually, when you think about it, the 9th ID's designation as a "High Technology Light Division" geared towards testing experimental light armor and motorized infantry tactics and doctrine (source: DoD Congressionally Mandated Mobility Study, April 1981; declassified via the FOIA) sounds a lot like it could have been describing GI Joe in its earliest incarnation as a primarily infantry-based unit using light armor and wheeled vehicles. |

Love the sand rail vehicle. The FAV is a nice vehicle. Would love a Joe update. I have one from another line that got at Target awhile ago, it's currently being customized.
