Very interesting Zulu, speaking of the DIA,
I've been re-reading Hama's run on Special Missions and the more I think about it, the more I think the Joes would fit as the Special Operations arm of the Defense Clandestine Service (DCS) Defense Clandestine Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They could be a JSOC unit that is attached to the DCS (actually I've read rumblings that the DCS has a unit exactly like that operating out of its Special Operations Shop). The unit would be under the administrative control of JSOC but be under the operational control of the DCS. I think they'd function much like the fabled Increment / E Squadron does for the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS / MI6) The Increment - UK Special Forces Rumours Their mission profile would be; • Clandestine Insertion and Extraction of Intelligence Agents • Special Reconnaissance in Non Permissive Environments • Clandestine Material Recovery of DoD assets • Investigation and Surveillance of Foreign Militia groups • Investigation of Weapons Transfers • Military Modernization of Foreign Nations and in Special Missions they performed; • Agent Extraction in Borovia (SM # 6); • Agent Extraction in Chomo-Lungma (SM #14-15); • Destruction of Surface to Air Missile Sites in the Middle East (SM # 3); • Extraction of a Suspected US Spy (SM # 8); • Foreign National Defector Retrieval in the Baltic Sea (SM # 1); • Installation of Sensitive Listening Devices in Foreign Embassies (SM # 7); • Monitoring of Weapons Sales in return for captured Foreign EPWs (SM # 9); • Observation of Military Arms Build Ups in Frusenland and Wolkeckukukkland; • Personal Security Detail and the Extraction of US Embassy Staff in Equatorial Kalingaland (SM # 10); • Recovery of Flight Recorder 'Black Boxes' in the South China Sea (SM # 4); • Sabotage of Weapons Caches in Trucial Abysmia (SM # 13); I think it's a good real world fit. As for the fighter jets, tanks, Defiant, Flagg etc; All the fighter pilots could bee drone pilots, Star Brigade as Transport Pilots (Although JSOC is rumored to have its own satellites) The Flagg could be a a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Littoral_combat_ship The armor could be MRAPs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRAP |

Yeah, I see the Joes using a LCS pretty easily and replacing the armor with MRAPs and LAVs.
I've got the Joes being spun off of the ISA (Intelligence Support Activity). Intelligence Support Activity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

i think that's one of the few that'd work. one other might be #6 and #7, infiltration of non-permissive environment to retrieve classified components of downed enemy airframe.

There's alot of intelligence agencies in the US that seem to cover the same things.

Here's how I would organize the team in terms of billets (it's very loosely based on the ad hoc task organization of the 4th Infantry Division/Task Force Iron Horse's MET-D—Mobile Exploitation Team-Delta):
Geostrategic Intelligence Joint Operational Element (GIJOE) Control Team
Communications-Electronics (C-E) Support Team
HUMINT Exploitation Team (HET)
CRIMINT Support Team
EOD Team
High-Value Target (HVT) Tracker Team
Scout/Security Team One
Scout/Security Team Two
The concept is that they're sort of a modern version of the joint-service "intelligence commandos" used by the UK during WWII: elite soldiers, marines, and sailors whose primary task was to collect intelligence in the riskiest of conditions, but had the advanced tactical skills to fight their way out of a hairy situation if they had to (of course, at that point, the mission would obviously be a failure).

Also, today I frank-n-joe'd together Claymore, since I doubt I will be able to afford his "pay grade" from Funpub. I made him out of an extra 25th Clutch I have. I gave his beard a shave. His body is the Toys R Us ROC 5-pack Law, He now has 25th Doubleclutch's helmet & Outback's gear-vest.
Anyone have a creative name for Shooter Jodie Craig from the Declassified series? I dont really like her codename, since it's kinda bland and well it doesnt work with multiple "sniper-shooters".
