With our realization a few hundred pages ago, the 12 inch Barrel Roll figure released in 2003 had a USAF t-shirt. I started studying and researching the Stall sibblings' filecards this weekend. The Stall family is starting to look like our early sibbling family. When a neighbor kid and I joined up with Civil Air Patrol in the mid 80s, mom & dad also signed up my sister when she turned 12 "to go along for the ride". In our squadron we didnt have the capacity for flight training. Instead, we had radio, first aid, search & rescue, military etiquette, basic flight properties and aviation & military history classes. Every cadet "enlisted rank" promotion would earn a flight in a Cessna 172 in various conditions. Every Cadet is a Mustang to became a Cadet officer, working ones' way through the enlisted "ranks". During the 10 days in August every year was the "Officer-boot camp" they would recieve a ride in an Air Force aircraft and be promoted to 2LT upon completion. Before High School, my sister ended her "career" in Civil Air Patrol, and started her soccer career and earned a Doctorate in Mathematics. Now, shes a short term Missionary and still plays soccer in her aircraft company's soccer league. What does she do working at an aircraft company? Statistics.
Barrel Roll & Blackout was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and then moved to Cranston, Rhode Island, where Bombstrike was born. Im proposing that Barrel Roll joined up for Civil Air Patrol in Jr High to learn basic flight properties and then to learn to pilot gliders & single engine aircraft, when age permitted. I found two current Civil Air Patrol Squadrons within 10 miles of Cranston and a possible Wing HQ in Cranston. Blackout & Bombstrike would join up too "along for the ride", when they reached the age of 12. Then after their graduations, all 3 joined the Air Force and later would attempt to join the Joe team. Blackout, would be disqualified to join the Joe team because he failed his Psyche-exam, so he found his way into the Cobra ranks. In my family, that would mean, I would be Blackout?

Ok now we've seen the new Barrel-Roll filecard anyone want to discuss? It would seem odd to be Pararescue and a sniper unless he was a PJ first and then progressed to sniper. That being said which Air Force MOS or duty has Sniper. I remember long back we talked of the Raven security and the counter-snipers. I don't know enough about the 24th Special Tactics Squadron but it's PJ's and CCT's mostly I believe. So where does sniper come in?
The filecard has changed quite a bit. No more perfect shot crap but now no more pilot. I was hoping he would become an officer and thus keep his pilot wings. I like the filecard mostly particularly his new role. I never liked High Altitude Sniper. I dont know why the father wasn't Air Force and he was following in his foot steps but it doesn't bother me much. Now we have another medic though!

Is Marksmanship Instructor a job in the Air Force? I was reading somewhere that the Air Force Special Tactics guys are sort of chomping at the bit to get there own missions as most go to other SOF from other services. Such as Delta and DEVGRU. But I can't picture how these teams are constructed? I'm sure they get a lot of the CQC training, but do they have their own facilities or do they use Delta's?
I just don't see a couple PJs and some Combat Weatherman and Air Combat Controllers, doing hostage rescues. Although I can imagine they would be fine in the battle of Tora Bora calling in Air Strikes.

I think most of the SOF units are getting away from their primary missions with the current conflict. They are doing a a lot of raids and HVT snatches of enemy leaders. The Rangers are the guys that have raids as a primary job, but all the units in SOCOM are doing them. "DELTA" and "DEVGRU" have the primary job of hostage rescue, but that's a small part of what they end up doing. Otherwise it would be like before 9/11, when they mostly just trained and did fewer ops; because, they were considered too valuable to waste on the more conventional stuff. I'm sure the 24th STS has its own set of missions in their charter, but I'm not sure how many people outside of JSOC know exactly they are. The 24th seems to be the one unit in SOCOM/JSOC that hasn't had a book written about it yet. I speculate that the 24th is getting some of those raid assignments. At one point, Adm. McRaven had stated that JSOC was doing 3-4 raids a night.

So I guess he's a MP and a PJ?
To answer your question "Go to other SOF" I mean instead of the Air Force Special Tactics teams getting the mission, the SEALs get the mission. Although I know a few forces like Delta and Green Berets will have an Air Combat Controller attached to their teams, I think AFSOC wants to get their own missions.

Barrel Roll needs to be either a sniper or a pilot to get that codename (the barrel roll maneveur of a jet or the roll of the bullet down the long barrel of the gun). Being a PJ doesn't make sense for him.
I kind of see him as a pilot who transfered to the security forces once his sister joined up and became a Combat Controller, so he could be near her to help protect her. Don't CCTs and Weathermen get attached to Spec Ops units? I know Transformers isn't completely accurate, but Tyrese Gibson's character is Air Force and attached to Duhamel's Ranger (assuming Ranger or possibly SEaL) unit.
