Wow I'm blown away by the concept Gung-Ho and Leatherneck. These are outstanding. They'd be crazy not to release them. Probably the best sculpts I've seen all year!

totally Agree! ridiculously amazing! and that's not just because Gung-Ho is my favorite Joe. But imagine a 2 pack? Call it the Marine Recon pack.

Those concept figures are so much better than the lines they have done since 2009.

I'm actually bored when looking at the concept case Destro, Gung-Ho, Flint, Beachhead, Leatherneck and the Ultimate CC, SS and SE
The sculpts are better because Hasbro has gotten better at the ME tooling/molds/construction but it's the same designs we've already seen before. I find the Lady Jaye and Rock 'n Roll more interesting because it's new.

I'm adding to Night Force.
With the Club's offerings, plus the figures already got (Shockblast, Outback and Tunnel Rat) I'm going to do a large NF display, but going to add to the ranks. Going to use some existing figures that I think fit into the NF look already and get some repaint customs done. Repainting Recondo, Airborne and 1 or 2 others, not sure yet. Adding RoC Grand Slam, Resolute Flint, Retaliation Night Ops Roadblock and others. Here's a list of ones thought would be aesthetically compatible: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ompatible.html For vehicles I'm thinking the RoC Ghost H.A.W.K. and a 30th VAMP, might try to get a 25th VAMP repainted.

I finally have the chance to watch "GI JOE Extreme". So far I've watched the first season and part of the 2nd. A few interesting notes: Tracker is a Spec-4. Metal Head is a PFC. Lt Stone has 2 gold bars on the same collar (I guess that makes him a 1st Lieutenant in cartoon-land).
Also in the news, this Thursday, Chaplain Father Emil Kapaun's family recieves the Medal of Honor by President Obama this week. For his actions during the Korean Conflict. The all boys catholic High School in Wichita was named after him and I made a fan-fic that was where ARAH Flint went to High School at, Chaplain Kapaun Memorial High School. It was at the gun range underneath the basketball court where Flint learned to shoot a rifle. Father Kapaun's story inspired him to go into the Army, but his English teacher encouraged him to go to University first. Flint would have graduated in 1971. After that year, Kapaun MHS moved and combined with the Mt Carmel catholic girls school and became Kapaun Mt Carmel High School. The military draft was kind to Flint, he was able to go Kansas University uninterupted. Flint got an English Lit degree, even competed for a Rhoades Scholarship to Oxford and won. KU did not have accreditation for the ROTC program from 1970-1975, which didnt bother Flint, because he wanted to become an enlisted soldier and work his way up. After college, Flint went to enlist in the Army, after Airborne School he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Div. where Flint's Platoon Sergeant gave him, his unit's "just retired" Blue Beret in 1974. He then went onto Ranger School, and then onto Special Forces School. Where he served in the Green Beret's as a Demolitions Sergeant. Then he went onto tactical School to become a Warrant Officer, as an A-Team's XO. He did have some helicopter training as a teen, since his uncle and father worked on the Cessna's only piston helicopter the CH 1 at the Pawnee plant. His pilot's training is like Zap's, only a hobby and not through the Army. He was then asked to join the GI JOE team, not only because his ability to command. But also since he can be in the middle of the action with his demolitions training and shooting ability along with his rotary wing pilot skills. Even Flint's quote on his filecard even sounds like he's there to rescue Father Kapaun, "C'mon boys, we're going home". "Come on boys, lets help these guys." -Chaplain Emil Kapaun

Is there somewhere that has the JOECON Night Force filecards available for viewing?
Found them, the very last pics in this thread. http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/...102/?showall=1

Ok I don't know about the rest of you but that isn't hit and run. That's Sneak-Peek.
SNEAK PEEK (v2), YOJOE.COM | YoJoe.com: Dedicated to the G.I.Joe of the 80's, 90's and beyond! I'm a little disappointed in the filecards as there isn't much new for the NF guys. Although lady jaye got a promotion. Still lower than her previous sort of Night Force incarnation as an E-7: LADY JAYE (v2), YOJOE.COM | YoJoe.com: Dedicated to the G.I.Joe of the 80's, 90's and beyond! Still I like the fact that they made this a different Cobra Mortal than the Argentinian version.

Random aside, while looking through the Serpentor issue precursor to the Battle for Springfield (Marvel ARAH #49) for this thread (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ml#post4269320), I see we have another of the very few non-wetsuited images of one of the Joe SEALs, namely Torpedo (see attached image and match faces to names to work out who).
Interestingly (and unfortunately) that's the last we see of him; he doesn't appear again at all during the battle (no idea where he is while they do their getaway in a rubbish (trash) truck!) |
