You usually have to be in a job( billet) that requires that skill. All Air Force PJs and CCTs( so the are ready to attach to any SOF unit, All Navy SEALs( as part of the requirement to get the Trident),selected SWCCs and Navy EOD, MARSOC Marines, some Recon Marines, Green Berets on jump teams, Rangers with the LRSU. You also have people that are attached to these units that may go.
All Navy SEALs go, and an increasing number of MARSOC Marines go... and starting this October, every graduate of the Q-Course will go to HALO before they even report to their Groups for duty. I think all the PJ's and CCT's go. SF runs HALO school. they think it's silly that all of their guys aren't HALO qualified. Everybody else in Spec Ops can apply and go, but they have to wait for a slot.

I'm sure it would have been an easy sell. "Hey forget about flying little birds. We got this thing called A Skyhawk! " (I know it breaks all the laws of physics but you will be one of the first.)

I like the idea of Flint's piloting just being something he picked up.
Probably the first time on a mission and the pilot got wounded, Flint thought "I should learn to fly one of these"

I was actually having a conversation about this the other day with a good friend of mine - he's an Active Duty Green Beret E-7 in 3rd Group.
Tactical Air Operations Course allows for more high-altitude jump quals - Marine Corps News | News from Afghanistan & Iraq - Marine Corps Times Both services had to wait for slots at the Army's school in the past. The Air Force PJs and CCTs were the only ones that got to "skip the line". Looks the Army is planning on a major expansion of their MFF school. Special Forces Qualification Course to incorporate military free-fall training | Article | The United States Army I wonder how this will affect the SF guys that aren't MFF qualified. SF is one of the larger organizations in SOCOM. That's a lot of guys to train if they want a regiment-wide MFF capability. Will failing MFF cause some ot the more experienced guys to be dismissed from SF? Or will they use attrition to let new MFF trained guys slowly replace the non-MFF guys. This also means the Q-course failure rate will go up a bit and the recruitment pool will shrink, since the guys that can't pass the HALO physical will have nowhere to go.

Well Marines haven't worn berets since Vietnam and the movie Joeverse set the precedent with Sgt. Stone. I'm interested in seeing what the rest of Lady Jaye's outfit looks like that scene. The necktie and the rank devices on the collar may indicate some hybrid uniform. I'm just wondering why they'd go through the trouble, when you show all the normal uniforms on everyone else in the scene.

That's the point I was trying to make. Why make special uniforms for 3-4 "Joes". Having them wear their respective service uniforms shouldn't change the meaning of an awards ceremony. Since Colton appears to be wearing a standard Army dress uniform, I really hope they didn't single out Lady Jaye for uniform funkiness,

And really, the majority of the people watching aren't going to know/care about the uniform discrepancies.
