I think that almost works. Is that a Joe franchise name they were going to use? when?

You could use some of the International versions of characters?
Condor / Airborne is a 'Captain of the Air'. You could make him an 82nd Airborne Company Commander (or 101st) ??? In the comics, there were some greenshirt type characters Hammer Down from IDW Vol 2 # 18 CPT Jones from Operations HISS # 4 MAJ Anderson from Operation HISS # 4 In the Netherlands, alot of the ranks were changed; Anti-Mirage / Backblast - LT Artificier / Tripwire - CPT Astuce / Dodger - COL Barouge / Red Dog - MAJ Brousse / Pathfinder - MAJ Budo - CPT Chute Libre / Free Fall - LT Chalumeu / Charbroil - LT Duke - MAJ Flint - CPT Gun Ho / Gung Ho - CPT Hors Bord / Blaster - MAJ Indiana / Spirit - LT Infrarouge / Knockdown - MAJ Marathon / Recoil - LT Mirage - LT Orca / Wet Suit - 2LT Reporter / Scoop - LT Rock n Roll - LT Transistor / Dial Tone - LT Vengeur / Mercer - MAJ Veteran / Sky Dive - LT Voltige / Cloud Burst - LT Also, wasn't Charbroil made a Warrant Officer in one of the 6 packs? Hope it helps |

It was part of a concept line that was never produced. Hopefully we'll see it down the line. I want to use the Raven's Wing concept as the Joe's Special Tactics Team (PJ's, CCT's, TACP's and Combat Weathermen)
G.I. Joe Convention 2012 – Names and Identification for Concept Figures | Generals Joes - A blog about the importance (or unimportance) of little plastic men Interesting, at home when I first read it on my cell phone (since I cannot click on links), I was thinking maybe the acronym meant "Naval Operations Manning and Development". But once I saw the filecard I thought, it's worse. "NAval Mobile Operations And Development" aka NaMOaD. I'll use NOMAD as "Naval Operations: Mobilization And Development". That way I can use the experimental Sky Hawks (Mark 1 & Mark 1A) not as aircraft but as River Patrol Craft. Also, cool idea Tyroc about Raven's Wing.

I know I have a love/hate relationship with the tilt-jet. We've talked about this here on our thread. So, for the new rawhides of the filecard thread, I'll try to explain. We have a hard time believing the Skyhawk is able to fly, because of no wings for sustained lift in flight. But it goes beyond that for me. Tilt-jets is a cool idea but...
The idea that jet engines can perform sustained lift, vertical lift like a helicopter is almost impossible. The longer the jet aircraft hovers in its own wake with unstable air expelled from its engines the tougher it is to maintain lift. The longer it stays in the same airspace it attempts to create more lift by rushing more air to maintain lift. So unstable air against the already unstable air causes a violent reaction, the aircraft cannot support stable flight and thus begins a "stall" senario for the aircraft and possibly result in a crash. Yeah, I know it's cool in Firefly, Caprica and GI JOE. Tilt-fans in my mind might be able to work like in Avatar & the Sigma 6 Dragonhawk, but still questionable. Yet, even the Tilt-rotors havent mastered transitioning from rotory-wing flight to fixed wing flight. Jets like the AV-8 Harrier & the Joint strike fighter doesnt use tilt-jets, they use movable nozzles to assist in "hovering" but they still have trouble with a maintained hover with an unstable air flow. Remember that True Lies had a Harrier on cables to hover... Just imagine from forward movement lift to transition to slow down airspeed and not stall yet have the engines at maximum to maintain lift. Wild! So, I'm of the old flight characteristics mindset. Until they fix the dirty air problem Rattlers and Sky Hawks cant fly like that. I still use the Tiger Rat and SkyHawk Mark II, as a S-TOL style aircraft rather than a V-TOL. SkyHawks Mark 1 & Mark 1A I use like the "Revenge of Cobra" miniseries, river interceptor craft. Yet it's up to you how your Joe Team & imagination works. As for me and my 79th JOE Force, Im saying SkyHawks, just like Sharcs aren't capable of sustained flight. So now you know...

Harriers only hover for short periods and only (usually) for showing off. they take off vertically, then transition to horizontal flight, or fly horizontally and transition for a vertical landing.
despite what Modern Warfare 2 might like you to think. they're more like the V22 Osprey, take off vertically or on an angle lift off and then fly horizontally. how do you feel about the Flight Pod, then? |
