So, for my SAS/SBS Team, I will use "Longslide" and "Digger"... that really helps, but I would like to include the AF versions of Hit & Run, Outback, and Beach-Head. The problem is that I really don't want to duplicate codenames... any suggestions? That solution of calling the UK/AF version of Footloose "Longslide" was perfect. A solution like that would be awesome.

For UK/AF Outback, I'm thinking of calling him either "Merlin" or "Wizard". The name Outback really does make a lot of sense for an Australian, but in my Joeverse, I grew up with Stuart Selkirk from Wyoming.
But, as an homage to Australia, I'd like to give AF Outback a name that fits an Australian... an Australian with a big white beard. So, since Australia is often called "OZ" I thought of "Wizard". And when I thought of "Wizard" and with the beard I thought of "Merlin"... I also thought of "Dumbledore" and "Gandalf", but those didn't seem as fitting. What do y'all think of "Merlin" or "Wizard" for AF Outback? For AF Beach-Head, I need some help. I ws thinking about "Boomerang" but he's NZ SAS, and I didn't know if a Boomerang is native to NZ or if it's just an Australian thing. Any other suggestions for a NZ commando would be welcome. I am considering the name "Griffin" because the NZSAS was involved with an Operation Griffin in 1998, and the Griffin has the head of an eagle... maybe like the famous HAAST Eagle of NZ, and because AF Beach-Head was a sniper. Same problem for UK/AF Hit & Run... any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I'm leaning toward "Badger" The Boomerang is mostly an Australian Indigenous weapon, not used in NZ. New Zealand's indigenous people are the Maori and are mostly Polynesian in culture. Here's a link to Maori weapons.. Category:M |

Loose, I love your Cmdr Waters Filecard.
Likewise Tank and Black Razor. When it comes out I'll be getting multiple Coltons to make John McClaine and Waters (and maybe Hudson Hawke) Edit Forgot to mention. The novel "Tales from the Cobra Wars" had some new Joes including a Force Recon Marine called 'Monster'. He apparently did 3 tours of Afghanistan before joining the team http://www.yojoe.com/comics/idwcobra...obrawars.shtml Last edited by Tyroc; 11-09-2012 at 08:38 AM.. |

So I finally watched Rambo (IV), First Blood I, II and hopefully Monday I'll be able to watch III. Interesting a Light Weapons Sergeant crosstrained as a Medic with Helicopter & Language Qualified. Finally a medic in special forces was getting tired of the medic being missing from the teams. Yet the helicopter is kinda far fetched, even more than Flint.
I think they were trying to pair them up with vehicles to make them sound like super soldiers. Which reminds me of Wild Bill, wasnt he a Lurper during vietnam? Did he get injured so he couldnt be a groundpounder? yet he wasnt injured in a way to disqualified him to become a pilot? Does that sound plausable?

Wild Bill was a Lurp in Vietnam, but his file doesn't say anything about him being injured. It just says that he "Reinlisted for Flight Warrant Officer School". So, I would imagine that he did 1 or 2 tours as a Lurp, and when he was done signed up for flight school.

I will be using Colton as Cmd Waters instead of Lt Waters. He's just too old. My one problem is his role seems to overlap a bit with my Commander Magnum figure and my Commander Bond (Marauders Falcon). BUt its alright they are all more or less tactitians and planning. I love your take as well Tanksmasher as it is very befitting the figure.

Merlin has more Arthurian connotations than Australian. The term 'Wizard' is AFAIK also an old British exclamation of surprise than anything Australian.

Category:M I don't know what AFAIK is. "Wizard" would refer to "The Wizard of OZ." Certainly that has to be where the Australian national nickname comes from.

The second one, First Blood part II, is my least favorite... so over the top. But the other three are really a lot of fun.

Nah, Oz comes from Aus(tralia) which is pronounced pretty much like "ostralia". I also note that Australians aren't too keen on their country being called Oz.
