Wasn't Eagle a captain while Hannibal was a colonel (or perhaps lieutenant-colonel)?
I can't quite remember why I think Eagle is a captain as it's not listed in the BftB datafiles, but I'm sure it was in the text of one of the comics. |

I remember Eagle being a Captain somewhere as was Skip. (I moved him to Major.) But either way works. I haven't found a good enough replacement/Fill in for Trent or Action Force Commander.
Found it! Captain Buckingham from Page 1 of issue 27 "Operation Claymore" OPERATION CLAYMORE

Since I moved Eagle under Hawk & replaced him {S5} w/ Hannibal, I decided to use the rest of the A-Team. Murdock was obvious he is w/ the Helicopter Pilots. B.A. I have w/ the renegades. {I think he would fit in well}. My question is Faceman. When I used him before, I had him as S4, however now I am thinking of placing him in Night Force as a Intelligence Agent or I could place him in w/ Chuckles & Mace in the Urban Unit.
What do you guys think?

I use the Ninja Force Guys as just very well trained commandos. They're Delta operators and the term 'Ninja' is just a rib on how stealthy and deadly they are. Much the same way many SOF call Delta / DEVGRU 'Jedi's'

DH, Love your new set up
Loose, I like the card game idea, that Gung Ho you mocked up was killer. I like how you meld so many different lines in your expanded universe. FYI I'm gonna steal a few of your ideas ;) I've been working on my own 'verse and every time I think I have something that 'works'. I find out a little more in my research and have to start again. I'm working on two distinct 'verses at the moment. 1) Purely Joe based with no outside expanded characters. In this one, all foreign variants, comic, cartoon characters are fair game. 2) My expanded verse with Magnum, the A-Team, Battleship, Tears of the Sun etc. Like I said, trying to make the Joes 'fit' into a contemporary real world setting has been driving me nuts. The basic problem is for a group like the Joes to exist. They'll need a hell of alot of support. I think I've finally worked out something I'm happy with. I'm just working thru some of the details but for the most part it all fits. The basic premise is that the Joes are part of a Combined Task Force deployed to Borovia. This take will be almost like a prequel. More in the next post Last edited by Tyroc; 10-12-2012 at 11:43 AM.. |

Operation Enduring Freedom - Borovia
JSOTF - Borovia The mission of the Joint Special Operations Task Force - Borovia (JSOTF-B) is to, at the request of the Borovian provisional government, work alongside the Borovian military to defeat terrorists and to create the conditions necessary for peace, stability and prosperity in the People's Republic of Borovia. The JSOTF-B consists of between 500 and 600 personnel, including Army Special Forces, Navy SEALs, Air Force Special Operators and a host of support personnel across all the US military forces. The Task Force is organized around a Headquarters element, temporarily located at Camp Hama, Krazny Municipal Airfield . A handful of JSOTF-B personnel also work in the country's capital Krogdnz to coordinate activities with the US Embassy Country Team and the Borovian Provisional Government. JSOTF-B provide humanitarian assistance to conflicted area communities and provide training and information sharing with the Armed Forces of the Borovian provisional government. Humanitarian missions include; Medical and Dental Civic Action Programs to deliver care where access to care is limited; Veterinary Civic Action Programs to provide farmers livelihood assistance; and Engineering Civic Action Programs to provide local communities infrastructure improvements such as schools, water wells, roads, piers and medical centers. JSOTF-B partners the Borovian provisional government and International agencies in developing an inhospitable environment and create disruptions to and therefore a diminishing money flow, for trans-national illicit trafficking and terrorists. An independent study by Professor Adele Burkhart at the National Counter Terrorism Center found that drug trafficking links to other trafficking network ties to terrorism and insurgencies. The same successful routes for drug trafficking can work just as easily for trafficking narcotics, weapons and people, including terrorist operatives. JSOTF-B works to counter trafficking thru information sharing, capacity building and developing common operating procedures with the both the Borovian provisional government and international agencies to detect, monitor and interdict illicit activities. JSOTF-B also work to build Borovian Military capacity thru Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) to exchange lessons learned on subjects such as explosive ordnance disposal, tactical combat casualty care, marksmanship and small unit tactics, civil military operations planning, maritime operations and casualty evacuation. JSOTF-B is composed of a HHC and 3 component forces; TF HHC (led by COL Hawk) TF White (FID / UW) 1 AOB (Advanced Operations Base) / ODB (REIN) (MAJ Claymore) 7 ODA (Falcon and Tiger Force) 1 SOT-B (Technical Control & Analysis Element / TCAE) 1 SOT-A (Support Operations Team - Alpha) (Sonic Fighters) 3 Cultural Support Teams 1 Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment (Airtight, Ozone, Clean Sweep) A SF Company (REIN), which is an ODB with 7 ODA's instead of 5. ODA's used to be 6 per company but was scaled back to 4 and later 5 according to the SOCOM Year in Review 2011/12. the ODB also has a SF Forward Liaison Element (FLE) which is a logistics unit, TF Grey (Civil Affairs / Influence Operations) *Still working on manning this* 1 CAT-B (CA Company) 1 Civil Military Operations Center (CMOC) 3 CAT-A (CA Teams) 1 Civic Action Team (CACT) 1 CALT (CA Liaison Team) 1 Military Information Support Detachment with x 3 Teams (MIST) 1 Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Detachment (SEABEE) TF Blue (Counter Trafficking) Naval Special Warfare Task Unit (NSWTU) which contains 1 HHC Element (LCDR Keel Haul) x 2 SEAL Teams (1 led by Link Talbot, the other by Torpedo) x 1 SBT Detachment (Shipwreck, Rampart, Topside) x 1 EOD Detachment (Depth Charge, Mariner) x 1 USCG LEDET led by Cutter x 1 DEA Foreign Advisory Support Team (FAST) (led by Bullet Proof) Supported by a Maritime Raiding Force (MRF) cross decked from the 24th MEU (SOC) *MRF is the new concept MSPF* Assault Element - Force Recon Platoon (CPT Sharpe, SGT Slaughter, Gung Ho, Reloaded Roadblock) Reconnaissance Element - Amphibious Recon Platoon (Leatherneck, Ice Storm) Security Element - Scout-Sniper Platoon (Hollow Point) -Infantry Platoon (LT Stone) also provides Base Defense for TF Blue HQ Element - CPT Sharpe (the FORECON Platoon Leader is generally the Commander of a MRF) - Radio Reconnaissance Team (RRT) (Mainframe) - Fire Power Control Team (Mirage) - HUMINT Exploitation (HET) Detachment (Mace) - EOD Detachment - Combat Camera Detachment (Scoop & Scanner) TF Purple (Joint Special Operations Aviation Detachment) Led by MAJ Skystriker 1 Combat Aviation Advisory Team 1 Special Tactics Team (led by MAJ Guile) * Street Fighters Movie figs did come under the Joe brand so that's my justification* 1Special Operations Surgical Team (S.O.S) They'll only have about 10 aviation assets, anything else will be on loan or cross decked from the 24th MEU (That way I don't need to create a lot of support positions) This organization is inspired by JSOTF -Philippines. I looked at the ones that exist in Afghanistan and Iraq and they're simply too big. Current doctrine has each JSOTF manned by an SF Group with 2 Battalions and either a SEAL Team or a USMC MSOB. In addition to the JSOTF which operates under US Command Europe (EUCOM) and its Special Operations Component (SOCEUR), there is a JSOC task force which is a theater tasking. This Task Force will be made up of; Headquarters Element led by BG Colton 1 Delta Squadron (LTC Rey, Spirit, Low Light, Sky Patrol, Super Trooper) 1 DEVGRU Troop (Wet Down) 1 Mission Support Activity Troop (ISA) (scarlett, Quick Kick, Lady Jaye, Faces, Switch Gears) 1 Special Tactics Team (Barrel Roll) 1 Ranger Battalion (LTC Courage) 1 Ranger Reconnaissance Platoon (Stalker, Snake Eyes attached from CIA SAD, Wade, Ramon, Dickie Saperstein) 1 Tank Company (CPT Steeler) 1 160th SOAR Battalion (Wild Bill, Updraft, Lift Ticket) 1 HIMARS Battery (CPT Barrage) 1 Airborne Infantry Battalion from the 173rd ABCT CIA assets (Clancy, Chuckles, DDP Duke, Spigou) FBI (Sure Fire, Rook) providing Bio Metric scanners and Evidence Collection Also; a flight of F-16C (Ace, Maverick, Slipstream, Dogfight, Tomahawk, Air Raid) attached to the larger Air Operations Center led by Payload The inspiration for this task group was from TF 11 during the start of the Afghan campaign. I would say Borovia works as well as any place as a base of operations. I imagine Borovia was somwhere in south Eastern Europe?
I like the model though. I've toyed with the joes being stationed in Afghanistan, and thus able to use existing military structure for support and basic headquarters functions. Then they have a series of Firebases and training camps they run. But any fictional Joe hot spot would work. Has anyone read Rumble in the Jungle by LowTech? http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...le-jungle.html He has an interesting take on the Joes as well, but I think he places Col Sharif and his emirates in the South Sudan bordering the Congo which is pretty much an open book.

Thank you guys for your input.
I originally had Eagle & Skip as Captains, but w/ where I have them now I promoted them. Should I lower their ranks to Major, so it wouldn't be much of a jump? Hannibal was a LtCol but by the end of the series wasn't he promoted to Col? Face is now a member of the Night Force. Action Man could be a "Lone Wolf" type character and not working to close to the group. I like that setup Tyroc. Loose I love these "cards" Last edited by Darkhawk75; 10-12-2012 at 07:13 PM.. |
