He was first in the Joe comic when Bazooka died. Can't remember the number.
Was also in Cobra Command near the end in the Cobra series.

I'm trying to find his first appearance where he looked slightly different. |

He also appeared in America's Elite #28 infiltrating a Russian sub to launch some warheads, this is the one I always remember.

Ah, serves me right for not reading carefully enough! Afair there was quite a bit of time between the stories and I'd just assumed they were re-using a name/character with a modified backstory, as seems to be the way these days.

So if you were to make 2-3 squads, what jobs would you have?
These squads would be "do-anything/go-anywhere" type. Mix of branches. Sneaky squad Heavy squad Urban squad Direct Action squad Where would you put PJs, EoDs, Combat Weathermen, SWCC?

1) Advance Ops - made up of Intel, Direct Action, Signals, CCT, Combat Engineer guys. They basically infiltrate ahead of any operations, plan drop zones, mark out Landing Zones, create caches, cultivate assets on the ground, create safe houses, force assessment etc. This is ideal for Lady Jaye, Quick Kick, Pathfinder, Switch Gears, Hacker etc. plus any Signals, CCT, SOWT. They're not supposed to engage the enemy but can and will if forced to. 2) The Sniper / Observer Squad - Once the Advanced team determines the target, these guys will sit and wait. They'll observe and record everything and act as sniper support for when an op goes down Low Light, Sneak Peek, Ambush etc are here 3) The Direct Action Squads - a few teams of all-rounders of maybe 4-6 men each. I'd have a few that specialize in Cold Weather / Mountain and Combat Diving. 4) The Stand Off Squad - a few teams that act as support to the main raiding force. Made up of Heavy weapons, combat engineers etc (Roadblock, Rock n Roll, Short Fuze etc) 5) CQB Squad - a few squads that specialize in Hostage Rescue / Tactical Assault / Off shore Assault. I have Cutter leading a USCG LEDET (Law Enforcement Detachment) for off-shore VBSS squad all the SWAT guys, Topside, Shipwreck, Rampart etc, any SWCC, SRT people 6) High Value Target / Rescue Squad - If a Joe gets captured then you know it's gonna be rough getting him back. This is where I put Snake Eyes, some of the Ninjas, a a few SF Medics etc, Usually led by Flint. 7) Deniable Operations Squad - a loose group with no on paper affiliation to the Joes. They are not subject to the USCMJ and function as PMC contractors than anything else. Storm Shadow, Kwinn, the Renegades. |

If they are part of a platoon, then the make up of the platoon can be different to be based around its area of expertise, like say; HALO, Mountain, SCUBA, Arctic, Littoral, Desert, Jungle, Urban, Artillery/Heavy Weapons. You could then add the various Support personnel to make up the HQ section, or an entire squad themselves. Maybe Every platoon needs an EOD, but SWCC folks would only work as support for a SEAL team, or combined SEAL/Marine team. I usually have problems with were to put the Marines; Maritime or Jungle Recon? PJ's should probably be part of your Airborne Platoon/Squad, or a Headquarters based rescue team. Combat Weatherman should probably be paired together. The other side of me would like to create new OG style 13 man teams. Each team would have the function of being able to do anything, but then the Arctic team could field it's own team, as well as the SEALs. Although I like to think 20 man teams would be better. This way all teams can have essential personnel as part of a HQ section, (CO, Comms, Medical, Driver/Transport), and then 2 teams of 8 or 4 teams of 4 and everyone gets a SEAL and an Arctic guy.

So each squad could be capable of recon, CQB, intelligence collection, rescue, etc. But one squad is more proficient at say amphibious insertions or hostage operations. Depends what you're going for. SWCC would merely be a "delivery" unit for your teams. Weatherman usually operate out in front on their own. And PJs are high-value rescuemen so you may want a separate rescue squad. |
