Yeah, I've seen the show you're talking about, blackrazor: "Coast Guard Alaska". And you're right, it does seem like a waste of time to do that when you could have the regular member of the crew perform those skills.

I think some people voted on what was harder to customize. A lot people made Repeater from the TRU ROC 5-packs (Law body, extra Zartan head). Jungle Assault Duke or ROC Monkeywrench became a base for Muskrat.
I think a lot of people didn't quite understand the nominating process. Some tankers only put in 3 or 4 characters and some nominated a faction like ECO-Force instead of naming the individual characters. I also wonder how a straight most popular to least popular seeding woulld have worked out. Just the fact that SAW-Viper had to beat out Muskrat early on makes me think the results would be the same. On a whole I would say those earlier figures yet to be made, are the most deserving. Like Iceberg, Muskrat, Pythona is a sense, and even Cross Country. Who is left pre-1987? Cross Country, Iceberg, Keel-Haul, Tollbooth? (Footloose, Cover-Girl are coming and Frostbite has been made, but not the same as the OG version) Next year a PROPER FALCON and Proper Gung-Ho!

So the other day, my friend and I had lunch at the original White Castle, in Wichita, Kansas. White Castle was headquartered originally in Wichita, but when they left town in 1938, the remaining diner's changed their name to Kings X. Slider's are known as the Blue Plate Special.
So anyway, He was trying to cure my hate of Shipwreck, since it is his favorite character. For the most part, it was not working. Then, he proceeded to tell me of a movie he had found called, "The Last Detail" with Jack Nicholson in 1973 and telling me it could have been the inspiration for Shipwreck. He hasnt had the chance to watch it yet, but said we could watch it for the afternoon. While we traveled to pick up the film, I remember my friend was trying to find a good reason for Shipwreck not wearing the right uniform. Then a light bulb went off, I said, No, that's not it at all, it's Shipwreck. He's figured out a way he can relax and not worry about a thing. He found out that a Chief's uniform is a curse. He's had too many youngsters coming up to him saying, "Sir, How do you fix this"? The questions from the Recruits and Apprentice ranks would mess up his off-time. Because, when he wore a Chief's uniform it seemed to scream, "I can fix this, ask me how". So he found a way not to be interupted so much while he lounged around the base. He stitched on his Chief's rank on his old uniform so that he would blend in with the nobodies and he could continue with his lax standards of living. We watched the movie and yeah, I can see points that this movie led to the Sunbow portrayal of Shipwreck. So, Shipwreck, still not my favorite character, but this explaination might help with the cartoon version of Shipwreck. Even though this portrayal doesnt work well with the United States military. I guess Shipwreck is here to stay. He is a favorite to alot of people because he doesnt have the military rigidness and can be comedy relief. I havent read to much of the recent Shipwreck comic book stuff. Did he gain the responsibility and the drive when he became a Navy SEAL?

Sort of. He got cover-girl and that's all that matters. I like him as a Seal. Helps explain the beard too.

I kind of wish he was a SWCC instead, or at least maybe we'll get one of these down the road.
On a side note, I'm pumped to hear about the October Guard. This has the potential to be a great set. I'm just concerned about the execution. I think I would have preferred some multipacks done by Hasbro since the Club has been inconsistent with figure quality. But who knows...maybe they'll nail it with this set. |

I never saw a sailor joining the Joes unless he was a SEaL or SWCC.
I use Shipwreck as a SWCC.

My joe-verse does have cartoon and comic book inspirations. I do find it interesting the GI JOE movie (1987) along with their filecards. The Renegades are off the books, but each of them wears an American Flag on their "uniform", I wonder if it's because their not actual military and thats why they are "off the books". Also, I've noticed the filecards of 2012 release of Maurauders. Taurus (Bull) and Mercer (Mercenary) traded specialties, Counter-intelligence and Demolitions. Was this Hasbro not paying attention to the original filecards?

So I just got my Dreadnok and Marauders 7 packs last night. I'm mostly impressed with the Dreadnoks, so I have no issues with them asside from some body construction. However the Mauraders pack presents a few problems for me.
First is Falcon. He doesn't scream Falcon to me, but it's still a better figure than Version 1. Is anyone renaming this figure? Or painting the Blue into Green? Second is Spirit? What do do with this guy Spare parts? Third Lowlight? Head Swap ideas? fourth Barbecue; I never cared for as a figure although I swapped the head with Version 1 for a more military look. Fifth Mercer well I guess he's alright. I've been using a stand in for so long I kind of like mine better. Sixth Taurus. The knees. Is there a fix for this? I swapped out Spirits web gear whcih looks better IMO Seventh Red Dog. I actually like him so no issue for me here.
