Back to Chuckles for a second, I absolutely think he's CIA. It may have been mentioned before, but wasn't the Hawaiian shirt and fatigue pants kind of indicative of Vietnam era "company" men.

Funny how that SRO Grunt has a 5'oclock shadow. Grunt's character always seem to be a clean shaven upright joe.

Stalker is no longer a ranger.
His newest filecard, that comes with the UBP, has him as a Ranger but his primary is infantry and he has two secondaries: medic and interpreter (????). The card lists his schooling as: basic combat training, advanced infantry training, U.S. Army Language School and Intelligence School. Stalker's no longer a Ranger, he's a pure Green Beret now. edit: Looking back, his original card is the same as his 2008 UBP one. It doesn't list Ranger school. But he's called a Ranger, but never went to ranger school?

Yeah, he always seemed to be a "by the regs" kind of guy, and 5 o'clock shadow would be a major no-no.

From a production standpoint, I think the beard was just a way to differentiate the head from Flash and Grand Slam a little bit. But I kind of like it. It gives him a "few days in the field" sort of look.

I noticed a few of the Joes have changed some of their ranks with the 25th line. Others have Rank\Code names that don't reflect their rank on the back. I know they want to be true to the originals but these little details get overlooked sometimes. Still If the Code Name is SSGT Rock'n'Roll he should be E-6. Lt Torpedo 0-3, Sgt Flash E-5. Mutt also got a promotion to E-6 from SP-4 from back in the day. But he's been E-6 since the Anti-Venom Task Force. |

Grunt always kind of bothered me. There was never anything "special" about him. He's not a ranger, he's straight infantry. How did he find his way onto an elite special forces team?
If he was that good, why didn't he get pushed into the Rangers or officer school, jungle warfare or anything. Same with Footloose. And to an extent Hit & Run. What does the Joe team need with infantry soldiers when they have Rangers and SEaLs? I totally agree with you about Grunt and Footloose. Footloose v1 was one of the coolest looking figures, and his file card bio about being a Cross Country runner, an Eagle Scout, and the Valedictorian of his High School is a great story... but why couldn't they make him a Ranger? Grunt's the same way. And after having gone to Georgia Tech, he could have come back as something really interesting like a Combat Engineer. I suppose with a name like "Grunt" he didn't really sound like an officer, but as a character he certainly seems like a strong candidate for further training.

I just picked up the Target Exclusive. He's been an E-5 since 1997 with the Stars and Stripe pack. Scarlett is listed as E-6 and Stalker is listed as E-8 and Breaker as E-5 in that pack.

Sgt. Stalker is a ranger in my book and will always be one in my Joeverse! It's funny how they end up having Shipwreck as a SEAL, when he wasn't one and went back to get trained! Stalker seems to be dealing with some lazy people at Hasbro. He certainly has the back ground to kick some serious a$$ as green beret if nothing else.

I always used/thought of Hit & Run as a Ranger. Did the same with Footloose too. But Grunt, he was always just a grunt. I like the idea of changing him to a combat engineer, that would be a great use for him. I just never understood why he was there. It's an elite unit, what makes him elite?
