I think I'm seeing a shift for us. I hate to say this. But, maybe Hasbro GI JOE is going chap mai, and GI JOE Collectors Club-Figure Subscription Service being our continuation of GI JOE 30th/POC style for us collectors. That way the ranks, specialties & filecards can recieve their proper treatment and kids can buy 5-articulation point GI JOE's.

I really want some extra Colton heads to make John Mclaine, Lt Waters from Tears of the Sun and that guy from the Last Boy Scout That Lady Jaye, I'm gonna use as Mayday. That Flint head looks like the guy from Starship Troopers IMHO. Black Tank Rock could easily be Artur Kulick from the Red Shadows with some paint mods. |

We're at a crossroads. If Retaliation does good, and sells well, we'll see that continue for awhile. And by that, I mean the kids-vibe/feel of the line.
Which is needed to keep Joe going. We're a stagnantn market and they can't cater to the collectors. I think Joecon will show us more 7-packs with stuff geared towards us. What are the filecards from the Marauders/Dreadnoks packs like?

So Troy, did they offer any insight as to the future of the line at the Toy Fair? Where is it going? Where do they want it to go?
The 7-pack file cards are so so. Nothing of much interest "lurking" there. |

I actually thought the new 7-pack filecards were a bit of an improvement, not much of one, but an improvement. The gave the birthplace, which was better and to me it showed that they may have been headed in a right direction.
Obviously, Retaliation toys are going to be a lot different... however, the line up until Retaliation were really good. So, I'm hoping that after the movie toys, we'll go back to the direction of the figures we've just seen.

I have to believe that after the movie, Hasbro will go back to a more traditional direction on Joes. I have to believe that... but in some ways, I can understand the lack of filecards on these movie figures. These figures will probably be marketed all over the world. American fans wanted American filecards, but I'm sure English fans wanted the "Action Force" Joes to be from England. It's probably much more cost effective to market these figures all over the world without filecards. These movie figures will probably be sold in lots of places that the 30th/POC line never were.
So I figure, after the movie - possibly as soon as Christmas - we'll see a return of filecards, better articulation, and a more traditional direction to the Joe property. I'm not worried. I think movie toys are a little cheaper to produce/market anyway. But I'm very excited about some of the Cobra Troop builders we've seen. The Crimson Guard, Night Vipers, Alley Vipers, and Cobra Airborne Troopers look awesome. I'm really excited about ALL of those figures. I'm also really excited about "ROCKBLOCK" and the new Joe "Green Shirt". The vehicles have a lot of promise. So, all in all, I'm pretty excited... and I think the movie is just a set back for filecards and articulation, not and end all of things to come. |

They didn't say anything about where the line was going after Retaliation. That will probably come out of Joecon.

Too Bad they didn't sorta of course! as I don't want the line to go away as a hole but I know it sure would help me relax and save money we would get to see if the movie line would actualy sell well or would most if not all adult collectors would wait to buy stuff after this movie line stops? Also for anyone that does not mind and remembers did hasbro ever say that they stopped the DTC line since it was not selling well? or did joes come back to store because it was selling well? I seem to think it was that it stopped as a whole and this is when we got sigma six? |
