I really want some extra Colton heads to make John Mclaine, Lt Waters from Tears of the Sun and that guy from the Last Boy Scout That Lady Jaye, I'm gonna use as Mayday. That Flint head looks like the guy from Starship Troopers IMHO. Black Tank Rock could easily be Artur Kulick from the Red Shadows with some paint mods. That's terrible. G.I. Joe without filecards. Driver figures without articulation. It's almost like they just hired Chap Mei to design the product for the movie.

Wow that is very sad:(...kids just don't get to experience all the great history we did as kids without the filecards:( I sure can't wait until after the movie line? I hope to get a few if toys r us does their sales like 2 for....or even a buy 2 get one free so anyone know if they are reveling more toys sunday and monday? as we have not seen the hundred dollar toy? and do any of you think we will see pics of the Amazon exclusive? it is just so tough since what if we get better molds of these figures redone later in the line? I was just really looking forward to a cobra commander figure since he looks pretty cool if a little too much black in the movie?

Well I don't even know where to begin. When do we go back to non-Movie Figures? I like the look of most of the figures. I wonder what Cobra troops we will see in the movie? But everything looks good Single Carded, aside from the limited ankle articulation and the complete lack of a filecard. Why? It's not that hard to write and is an important part of the mythos? Now they provide nothing! except a stupid over sized spring loaded POS! Honestly since these are not new characters I don't care they don't have filecards, but if the movie does well and a new generation of kids gets into GIJoe, they will miss out on what I think makes part of the complete package.
I get the Ninja aspect of the movie. I'm fine with it. It's what sucked me into the brand and hopefully kids will come to think that of all fictitious Ninjas Snake-Eyes is the baddest of them all. I just hope that Someone blasts them. Or everybody! I suppose Toy Fair isn;t the venue since it's invite only but someone has to tell them.

Exactly, the file cards give the figures texture and nuance that is lost without any form of media (for off screen characters).

I wonder what comes after the movie? Do they go back to POC? Will they continue a Retaliation story-line? I'm assuming the movie will do far far better than ROC, so there may be an influx of new fans. Young fans hopefully. Dwayne Johnson should have been in the first movie, and I think he will carry this movie all the way to a sequel to make the full trilogy. BUt will they capitalize on the movie's popularity and roll with the ROCK?

I have to believe that after the movie, Hasbro will go back to a more traditional direction on Joes. I have to believe that... but in some ways, I can understand the lack of filecards on these movie figures. These figures will probably be marketed all over the world. American fans wanted American filecards, but I'm sure English fans wanted the "Action Force" Joes to be from England. It's probably much more cost effective to market these figures all over the world without filecards. These movie figures will probably be sold in lots of places that the 30th/POC line never were.
So I figure, after the movie - possibly as soon as Christmas - we'll see a return of filecards, better articulation, and a more traditional direction to the Joe property. I'm not worried. I think movie toys are a little cheaper to produce/market anyway. But I'm very excited about some of the Cobra Troop builders we've seen. The Crimson Guard, Night Vipers, Alley Vipers, and Cobra Airborne Troopers look awesome. I'm really excited about ALL of those figures. I'm also really excited about "ROCKBLOCK" and the new Joe "Green Shirt". The vehicles have a lot of promise. So, all in all, I'm pretty excited... and I think the movie is just a set back for filecards and articulation, not and end all of things to come.

Oh well, the recent file cards are so bad that it doesnt really matter. Hama seems like the only one who cared about the characters. The personalities were his invention anyway.
