I think he is an intel operative. He works for some other agency, stationed with the Joe team to work as their intelligence agent.
I think most of his card is 1/2 cover story and 1/2 real story. His military paygrade and that, cover story. The new Joe series from IDW seems like it will really define Chuckles role more then previous series. He has to be way more than we realize. I know in declassified he's an MP, but seems like he goes undercover real quick. So when is he a civilian or military? Or what we have in this area are guys who work for the department of the Army, but really their office is at Langley. But those guys hold GS grades. He should be an officer as well. like Sure-Fire; Bulletproof. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 01-06-2009 at 07:47 PM.. |

There are several Joes, in my opinion, whose filecards don't reflect a commission but probably should.
Grunt(he's seems like he would be prime to be given responsiblity he would have done ROTC when he left to get his engineering degree) Duke (He's 0-8 in my verse) Scarlet (there needs to be a female officer) Skydive (He can't have a guy outrank him on his own team) SpaceShot(He is really insignificant but he's a pilot) HollowPoint (at least a warrant) BarrelRoll(He's a Lt in the comics) Lt Torpedo (That's what they are calling him these days so why not) CHuckles( who is he anyway?) Bull-Horn (If he's ex FBI) GI Jane (She's a government agent which translates to an officer equivalency) I'm sure people have had their favorites in charge at some point, so who would yours be? |

I agree on the ranks thing. They should mostly all be government employees with GS ratings. I mean how do guys do tours in southeast Asia in the 60s-70s and still be E-4s and E-5s. Most of the team should be E-7 and above or Warrants or LTs. I wouldn't do a slick 20 without at least trying for OCS, Bootstap, going LDO or Warrant and these guys have 20+. I think the GS rating would make better sense.

I think Chuckles is C.I.A. In a way, it makes a lot of sense... check out the history of the C.I.A. on wikipedia and their mutual legacy with Army Special Forces and things start to add up.

I think they should send those guys through BUD/S and make them SEALs like they did with Shipwreck. But as Troynos is often fond of reminding us, they should give them camo uniforms and not just make them repainted divers.

I would do a head swap with one of the Shipwrecks that went with the Piranha. Either the blue one or the Green one that came with the Eel I think. YOJOE.COM | Shipwreck YOJOE.COM | Shipwreck I think the joes do need some of these Navy guys. For one how do they get to Cobra Island half the time? Plus all those SEALs need the Special Boat crews to get them there. (Cutter) and someone has to man the guns on the Whale. (Topside) (Mariner) (Rampart) (Deep-Six when he's not diving) I assume Topside should be a Special Boat Squad guy as is Mariner. With Cutter and Rampart, these would be the guys that would board a Pirate ship or a platform that sits in the ocean. Along with the Marines of Course. The Navy can supply a Combatant Craft Crewman along with the SEaLs. But yeah, Topside and Rampart seem odd. The Navy doesn't really have roles for what they are "tasked" at. They could be Coast Guardsmen, could probably find something that fits their roles in the CG, especially Topside who translates very well as a ship boarder. I never had a problem with Deep Six because he was tasked as a diver and shown as a diver. I can see a SMALL use for a deep sea diver on the Joe team. Very SMALL use. But his role as the SHARC driver is what kept him on my team. I used the SHARC as more of a submersible recon vehicle, and that's what Deep Six was: underwater recon and analyasis.
