I like that idea Takedown.
I like Heroclix, not the game (never played), but the gamepieces make good little statues. I'm surprised that hasbro never released G.I. Joe Titanium vehicles like they did for Star Wars and Transformers. It seems a natural with the vehicles that Joe has. |

Yeah, Troynos, A great idea.
Last Saturday, I was staring at Heroclix at a local game shop and thinking they need to come out with a Heroclix for GI JOE or a generic military style game. All set up to play, pre-made, pre-painted game pieces. So after reading your ideas Troynos, I've came up with the best way "Heroclix GI JOE" would work. GI JOE in this format should be vehicles only, for "army building". Most consumers would have a stopping point with characters. Because most would be fed up with too many character duplicates. But with vehicles only, the purchasing would be limitless. They could make the different vehicle paint schemes too. Tiger Force, Night Force, Python Patrol, Dreadnoks, Slaughters Marauders, Sky Patrol, etc. The line would consist of 1980's JOE & Cobra vehicles up until today's 30th Anniversary vehicles, including spytroops, Sigma 6, and any other GI JOE line. Also, it would be the best way to finally get the vehicles we want... Tomahawks, WHALES, Vamps, MOBATS, Conquest X-30's, Rattlers, Slugger, Toss'n Cross, Snowcats, Havoc's, Dragonfly's, Skystrikers, Night Ravens, Tactical Battle Platforms, Terrordromes, GI Joe bases. They could also have a "Deluxe" class sets for 10-20 dollars the Cobra's Helo-carrier, the USS JANE and the USS FLAGG. Then the supreme sets class for 25-35 dollars the Main Cobra Base and the Main GI JOE base. They could even make whirlwinds & asps along with the other trailer sets, to be "towed" and released. We could totally army build vehicles and have space to spare. LOL! You could even use these vehicle pieces with a chess board or GI JOE Monopoly (use vehicles as game pieces, use trailers as houses and bases as hotels). The other option, is that Hasbro has a game included with the Star Wars figures. So maybe GI JOE could also translate well and be their next step. Tho that means the filecards may suffer if that happens. Though the filecards cant suffer much more than they already have. So what does everyone think? |

Sounds like a cool idea but I think they should retain the characters because they are the driving force (no pun intended) behind the vehicles. They wouldn't have to make them all, just the ones that occupy important duty positions on the roster--a radioman, a medic, a machine gunner, a sniper, a squad leader, etc.
Vehicles would be transports. The gamepiece (a smaller representation of the vehicle) is what is used to "carry" your pieces to the battle. The toy would be like it is now, with a figure and a gamepiece. The filecard would have the vehicle information and the game stats. I'm trying to cover all the bases: action figure collectors, game players, kids, etc...

So you're thinking of just using game-stands for the current action figures, not miniatures. Kind of like a 1/18 scale game board. And then using mini vehicles or drones as the transport pieces?
That would work. Perhaps the game board would look like a topographic, hexagonal map of a battlefield with strategic points and HQs and barriers from which to launch assaults and so on. Last edited by Tanksmasher; 01-13-2012 at 04:49 PM.. |

The drones would be the figure representatives on the battleground. Keeping it smaller for easier tabletop play.
The figures/full-size vehicles would be for real play. Definately stragetic points on the battlefields, cover, bombs, etc..

Gotcha. Are there any current games that you are using as models for this one? RPGs? Heroclix?

Well after great discussion on this forum and with my bestfriends. The GI JOE Heroclix, characters will be included. Just not sure if characters will be in card form or tabletop statue form. I guess that would be up to Whizkids and Hasbro. But apparently characters make the game Heroclix more about tactics and such, rather than checkers or just plain chess. I've only played Knight Mage (or was it Mage Knight) once about 10 years ago in the Heroclix Universe.
