Psyche Out is the Joe's PSYOP (Psychological Operations) Officer. Under close coordination with Hawk and the other Staff Officers, he'll plan, supervise (and because the Joes are a small unit), actively participate and lead a Tactical PSYOP Team (usually a 3 man team, led by a Staff Sgt).
For example one mission could be; The Joes are in Sierra Gordo, a bunch of Joes are purifying the water, building a school etc, Psyche Out will be passing around leaflets, cartoons, meeting with elders, driving around broadcasting etc, all to reinforce the message that Cobra is the enemy and not be swayed by their empty promises. There are other nastier type things he could be doing too....Cobra Hierarchy on decks of playing cards for Capture-Kill teams etc. As a PSYOP soldier, he'd be airborne (and probably Ranger qualified) and because The 4th Psychological Operations Group - now called the 4th Military Information Support Group is part of SOCOM, he'd have a history of having served with Ranger, Special Forces and other Special Operations units, so he'd have to be one tough soldier in order to keep up with them. I lamented his misuse because whilst a few tankers seem to use him as Military Intel or as an Operational Psychologist (which are both cool ways to use him), the vast majority seem to use him as some tech support towel boy or gopher. |

I end up using him with the Urban assault teams. I use the Resolute Arctic Duke head on a Pit Commando body. He serves as the Civil Affairs Liason as well. But Like Oliver had mentioned at one point. Many of the the Psy-Op guys are former Green Berets, who sort of no longer pull field duty for whatever reason, but are too trained to be wasted. So they still put them too good use conducting Psy-Op or Civil Affairs, particularly due to the language training.

I use to use them as Coil Officers. But I barely look at my O-ring anymore. I still have Firefly as a Ninja, but He almost never has to use it. He's too good at everything else he does.

Good call, Tyroc. I was thinking that FM 5-0 and 6-0 superseded that document, but there's only an appendix to staff org in 6-0 and it only briefly goes into the duties. However, there are some changes to organization if you look at the new Corps Ops FM 3-92. For instance, the G-5 is no longer Civil-Military Affairs and they've added some others. G-5 is Plans, G-7 is Information, G-8 is Financial and G-9 is Civil Affairs.
Trying to find up to date Field Manuals is a bit of a struggle 'cos I don't live in the States. Some .mil sites won't allow foreign connections. I can get thru on a proxy server from work, but I'm on extended leave over the Xmas/New Year break. |

Damn, that's a good way to use them. I don't have enough Coil troops, that's a good way to 'pad' them out.

I just had the 6 Coil troopers from the CON set and two of these guys plus 3 of the Green HEAT-vipers and it made a decent looking squad with Overlord.
One figure I loved were the Cobra Coils which I got a dozen of and figure they work too. YOJOE.COM | Cobra Coils I pretend Relampago was one of these guys before signing up to be Pythonized.
