So here's an issue with Chuckles... why is he listed as an E-5?
I know there is certainly some debate on Chuckles, but with all the DDP did with the character, and reading between the lines of his file card, I think it's safe to assume that Chuckles works for a Government Intelligence Agency - most likely C.I.A. Now, if that's true, why is he an E-5 Bullet Proof came from the U.S. Marshals - he's a Major (O-4) Sure-Fire came from the F.B.I. - He's a Lt. Colonel (O-5) Bull Horn is questionable. And I don't think we can really close that discussion yet. But if Chuckles is a G-Man of some kind, why is he listed as an enlisted man? Maybe his rank is sort of "Mission dependant" like the Army's C.I.D. What do you guys think?

I think it's part of his undercover nature, classified kind of thing. It's part of his cover identity. His government-nature is classified, so the E-5 is his "official" identity.

Flint's appearance wasn't retconned. The 36.5 shows him and Duke riding and delivering the Armadillo. So Flint is already at the training field with the Armadillo when the other Joes show up for the exercise.
The Twins were part of the Foreign Legion before joining Cobra. That's how I took that to mean. I think Flint was always Ranger qualified, it would make sense, and he was on that mission with Duke and Roadblock. But yeah, makes sense Roadblock would be a Green Beret/Special Ops along with the others.

The 36.5 or 37.5 (whatever the issue is called) shows Flint asking Duke about Duke's involvement with a new special mission force... he's basically asking his old Ranger/Green Beret buddy about the Joe Team and Duke is being elusive about it. I think it demonstrates that Flint was not in the Joe Team at the time of that discussion.
Point being: I think Flint, Duke, and Roadblock were all on a Special Forces Group together, and Duke and Roadblock were recruited for the Joe Team together. Subsequently, when the team was ready to expand, Duke recommended Flint for membership on the Joe Team. It would explain how they all knew each other so well and it would demonstrate Roadblock as a Green Beret.

Flint is another guy that deserves the CMH for holding off a group of Cobra Eels that were going to make a surprise attack to the Pit so Lady Jaye could escape in time to warn the other joes. He ended badly beaten up but thanks to his actions the joes could manage to neutralize the surprise attack that could have wipe out the joes. That guy is truly a hero.

Well, hopefully that's settled...
Anyway, so about the 6 official Special Forces soldiers in G.I. Joe - and I'll admit there is plenty of evidence to support the others as potential Green Berets. Would any one be interested in a 6-Pack of the Green Berets - call them "Alpha Team" or something (Like a Special Forces A-Team). They've got a good mix of specialties. Drop Zone could even work as a sniper because he's a Special Forces weapons expert - not just a heavy machine gunner. Flint could even work as a Sharp Shooter (8" line file card). They could get some matching camo. Drop Zone would need a new uniform design, and Kamakura might be better in a more commando uniform (like Snake-Eyes, obviously). I think it could work really well, and I'd buy it. What about y'all? |

I'm convinced. you don't know how many missions Roadblock got left behind on because he wasn't qualified. |

In "Master and Apprentice" and in "Frontline" it's hinted that he works for some group like C.I.A. or D.I.A. or N.S.A. or if you really want to keep Chuckles in the Army, then he could be I.S.A. He worked with Duke pretty closely during Duke's time as a spy/operative. In G.I. Joe: Declassified, it's revealed that he started off in the Army... it seems he began as an M.P. and probably worked his way into Army Intel or C.I.D. From there, he may have been recruited by another agency and continues to work with G.I. Joe as some sort of case officer/intel operative What do you guys think?

Thanks, buddy. When I move up to Virginia this Summer, we should get some lunch or something sometime.
