Wasn't High Tide a Cobra though? I'm not up to date on characters from America's Elite.

IMHO, I like to think that the Phoenix Guard were real operators whose identities were just stolen by Cobra. Too much bureaucracy to simply create military / official cover records from scratch.
I think DDP rushed that storyline (like they did most storylines). A slow burn story would have packed a bigger punch. |

Yeah, it was a good story, it just became very anticlimactic. So much wasted potential there. I guess that's why I've always preferred Hama's writing-he weaves intricate stories with multiple plots and subplots that don't necessarily resolve quickly.

Total agreement, Lifeline 71. What sucks is that for the longest time I wanted Chuck Dixon to write GI Joe. He was one of my all time favourites when hewas writing Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Robin and Green Arrow (all at the same time).
But I've found his run to be rather lacking. I thought he might've added some of that grit and tension from his Team 7 writing to his complex story arcs and character development but so far I've been underwhelmed. :( |

Well I've been trying to translate some of the Dutch Joe cards I found
GIJoe.nl :: Dossiers! Not much to report unfortunately. There's maybe one or two unique lines but then they're almost carbon copies of its US/UK counterparts. For example; Alpinista (Dutch Alpine) http://www.gijoe.nl/dossiers/1987/dossier_alpinist.jpg was born to Algerian Parents (same as his Action Force card) And Chung Ho http://www.gijoe.nl/dossiers/1989/dossier_chung-ho.jpg He was born in the slums of Shanghai, after that it's just an almost exact match to his Marine Dress Blues card. Disappointing but I'll keep going. The only real differences seem to be in the ranks, filenames and places of birth. Occasionally a different PMS or SMS pops up but nothing drastically different. |

I wish Dixon's stuff was more like his Team 7, that would have been great.
I use the Phoenix Guard names as Joes because, well there need to be more Joes. Team 7, Wetworks are great places to get future Joe names from.

Tyroc, that's too bad there's not that much difference. Would be good oppotunities for new characters.

I didn't know:
-footloose became a joe to find himself. -Rock n roll went to covert op school. -Big ben was on-loan from the SAS, participated in the falklands conflict, and is a specialist in subversive ops (rebellions/insurgencies?).

Yup, the SAS ran alot of ops in Northern Ireland against the IRA. Sabre Squadrons were rotating in and out of there all the time. Btw, welcome to the thread
