I once visited the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, TX - not the baseball team, the law enforcement agency. Anyway, Texas Rangers are pretty awesome. They had a really neat display in the Museum for Walker/Chuck Norris and another one for the Lone Ranger because those two were the most famous fictional Texas Rangers. The guy in the gift shop said that Chuck Norris had made a lot of real Texas Rangers angry because he wore a black hat in the show. Real Texas Rangers are only allowed to wear light colored hats on duty. They take that stuff pretty seriously, evidently.
"Walker: Texas Ranger" was very corny and was pretty laughable. We watched in every Saturday at my house because we only had 3 channels and it beat the crap out of "Lawrence Welk" reruns on PBS. If you watch "Walker" as a comedy, it's fantastic. It's got to be one of the worst police dramas ever... right up there with Nash Bridges. Chuck Norris, however, from everything I've read and heard is a really great guy. He does a lot for charity, helps his church, and does a lot for children's hospitals and inner city youth. And even though he's gotten older, he's a legitimate martial arts champion... probably one of the most accomplished American martial artists and certainly one of the best ambassadors for the sport in our country. And Every episode of "Walker" was certainly no cheesier than the old Joe cartoon. I think Walker would make a great member of the Joe team.

The problem with fictional characters is that they're created to be "tough guys". Can manufacturer whatever is needed for them to accomplish what they need to do.
I like hearing about the real-life people that make the fictional guys look like wimps.

I couldn't agree more Troynos, and after hearing from my neighbor that's why I had a hard time watching anything dealing with the Walker Tex. Ranger. I still respect Chuck Norris for all that he does with the community and the work he does with children.

I'd be afraid to say anything bad about Mr. Norris, because as we know that when he does push-ups, he doesn't push himself up, he pushes the earth away.

So, back to the ongoing discussion of Possible Green Berets. I think I may have found further evidence that Roadblock is, in fact, Special Forces qualified: Issue #36.5 (from the Xamot/Tomax Comic Pack) written by Larry Hama.
Flint's original first appearance is Issue 37, when he battles the Cobra Twins at a circus. The new Comic pack retcons Flint's first appearance and has Flint riding with Duke and talking about joining the Joe Team. They have a flashback to a time in Truscal Abysmia when Flint, Duke, and ROADBLOCK are on a mission and they ran into the Cobra Twins (who were oddly dressed like the Foreign Legion). Again, this is prior to Flint joining the Joe Team, so this is obviously a reference to a time when he and Duke and Roadblock were on a team together prior to Duke and Roadblock joining G.I. Joe. Now, it's already been established that Roadblock served with Duke as an Instructor at Ranger School; so we know he's a Ranger. The question is: Did this pre-Joe mission with Flint, Duke and Roadblock take place in the Rangers or Special Forces? I think it was Special Forces and here's why... There was only three of them and they were driving a Special Ops. Dune Buggy. Rangers don't really use that kind of special vehicle and they operate in more regularly sized units. Also, Flint is wearing a beret during the flashback mission. My conclusion is that Roadblock is the 8th official Green Beret. What do you guys think? If only they would be so clear about Stalker and Claymore... honestly, those guys are clearly qualfied for Special Forces. Low-Light, Recondo, Big Brawler and Spirit also need to be cleared up.
