Is Crimson Horseman the guy that comes with the Crimson HISS?
Hadn't even heard of him. The CGs are still the "business" arm of Cobra, the personal army of Extensive Enterprises and the Twins. They are undercover and rarely in uniform.

I don't own any Crimson Vipers. Although I should get myself a few.
YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Viper YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Cobra Vipers (version twenty-five) Nothing very CG about them in my opinion, since they are not Lawyers or Accountants. Still I imagine they should be commanded by CG's? They say they are loyal to the Baroness and the Twins even over Cobra Commander. But then all CG's are loyal to CC and I figure the Twins would be surrounded by CGs as well. New CGs work as executive body guards while undergoing additional schooling and language development. They must learn a second language and develop the skills required to infiltrate and take over various civil organizations, government offices and private corporations around the world. They also command platoons of Crimson Vipers, which are essentially Military Police. Once promoted to captain, CGs are transfered to a particular region where they work "out of uniform" and under the close tutelage of a Squad Leader who is at least a LTC and holds a senior management position of some kind in a corporate or government agency. Squad Leaders are authorized to wear the silver sigil. There is also a Captain of the Guard, who is ranked a captain and is the commanding officer of the Crimson Guardsmen who have not been promoted to captain nor entered the civilian world. If a CG obtains a chief executive position--CFO, CMO, COO, CIO, CLO, CCO--or becomes head of a governmental department--Secrectary of Defense, Secretary of Treasury, Secretary of State, etc--he becomes a CG Commander and is promoted to Lieutenant General. The Twins are CEOs and thus full generals, as well as the Supreme Generals of the Guard. The CG Immortals are perhaps similiar to the ancient Immortal Guards of Byzantine and Persia--elite Imperial Guards who are also a part of important external agencies that don't grant them general ranks but do entitle them to an "immortal" status or permament tenure in the CG communitiy. The Shadow CG handles the "dirty" subversive work of actual sabotage (not just financial), demolitions, kidnapping and other detainment. Last edited by Tanksmasher; 11-28-2011 at 11:52 AM.. |

There's so much overlap between Blueshirts, Vipers, CGs, etc.. that I try to make sure each group is totally unique.
CGs are soldiers, but sleeper cells. They're Vipers that have had additional schooling to be lawyers, politicians, etc.. There aren't very many of them. They don't parade or assemble, being spies for the most part. Not active agent spies, but moles. Cobra wants to influence an election, get a law passed, get someone released from jail or not sent to jail, the CGs are the ones that secretly take care of it. Vipers are the Special Ops of the Cobra forces with Blueshirts making up the infantry, sailors, etc..

I would say a majority of the Cobra operatives are blueshirts. Supply guys, maintenance, security, transport, ditch-diggers, basic logistics.
Should they want more money and danger they move to the Viper Corps. These are Cobra Assault troopers. Either a Ranger or Marine Equivalent. Should they start in the Cobra Navy then they would move into the Eel Corps instead of the Viper Corps. Once they complete the training they are Corporals (E-4) You first need to complete Viper/Eel training to move to any of the other Viper Specialties. For this fact alone All Specialty Vipers are at least E-5 sgts.

I finally bought the Resolute Joe & Cobra 7 packs. I headswitched my extra Covergirl head onto The Resolute Baroness to make "Layla" The right hand of Baroness seen in The World without End and a handful of other episodes. She's darker skinned than what she is on screen, but until I learn how to detail paint, hasbro or Collector Club release her this will be the stand-in figure until then.
Did we ever come to a conclusion about the differences or similarities between Alley-Vipers and Shock Troopers? Right now in my Joe-verse they belong to the same Squad. I have 1 Alley Viper "Officer" as the Fury driver, 2 Alley Vipers, 3 Shock Troopers. Im placing the Resolute Alley-Viper as the Alley Viper Officer, and the Resolute Firefly with a breather-mask helmet as a Shock [Trooper] Officer.

There aren't that many CGs compared to Vipers or other branches but there are more senior officers in the Guard than elsewhere due to the nature of the work. The field requires highly skilled managers and strategists. Quote:

Do your CG COmmanders outrank the Baroness and other high ranked named CObras? I guess I'm curious about your Cobra Hierarchy.

For me the Alley-Vipers, Shock troopers and Elite-Vipers fill the same sort of roles.
Elite-Vipers are the Delta Force in my Cobra Org. THey are actually trained by Darklon. I've never decided what really sets them apart other than their title. I would say for the most part, they have all served in either the Snow-Serpents, Alley-Vipers, Para-Vipers or Range-Vipers. Alley-Vipers and Shock troopers are like Seal Team Six and 24th STS. I just haven't figured on the parent units for these two. Like I would say a Viper may lead to becoming an Alley-Viper. A Shock Trooper may come out of the Blue Shirt Core. I also have the Resolute Troopers as a semi-Special Force. (Bounty-hunters / SWAT) Which may be the first step to Shock troopers. Alley-Vipers serve Serpentor in my Verse, and Shock-troopers under Cobra Commander, so there is the real difference.

The Elite-Viper is part of the Coil. All RoC Troopers belong to the Coil.
Resolute Blueshirts are part of King Snake, which is a PMC run by Cobra for "legit" operations. Renegades Troopers are... not quite sure yet. I'm really not sure how to use the Alley-Vipers and Shock-Vipers. They both serve the same function and I like the S-Vs better. For me, if I don't own it, it doesn't exist. No Crimson Vipers, so they aren't in my forces.
