Tank,
For me, my Marines serve primarily as an amphibious unit along with the SEaLs. They still serve as recon and I don't have the SF redundancy because my Joe SF unit is so small, only a half dozen individuals, and they end up getting sent on solo missions.

I suppose it doesn't hurt to have some overlap. What about intelligence units? I've spent the least amount of time on this but I'm finding new uses for many of the martial artists. Jinx and Quick Kick, among others, have an intel MOS so I decided to build a HUMINT collection team using them and ninjas like Kamakura since they arent useful to me otherwise. Martial artists would prove beneficial in that role due to the up-close-and-personal nature of the job. I think LJ and Scarlett would be best suited for a CI team since they have a mix of language, martial arts and covert/concealment backgrounds.
Budo and T'Gin-Zu and others could serve well with a CID unit. Chuckles and Surefire are limited on manpower and close combat skills offer an edge there as well. |

I use Jinx as Intel. All my intell guys are Humint and CI.
I don't use Surefire for CID, but as part of Security or Urban/CBQ. Ninja Force are used as bodyguards/security. Quick Kick is in security currently, as would Budo if had a figure to represent him. Only using characters have figures. Don't have ninja force, but since don't have figures representing the people they protect, I make an exception for them.

So are the body guards a branch like military police or just separate entity altogether?
What about Civil Affairs? Who qualifies? I'd like to build a 3- or 4-man team but can't think of any good candidates. |

What would you need a civil affairs office for?
My Joes are totally off the books. Self-supporting. Bodyguards would be military police style.

Its not for them but the foreign governments and civilians they encounter on the hunt for Cobra. Someone's gotta smooth over the ruffled feathers of an occupied town or country.

My Joes don't deal with that. They're so top secret that the US government (aspects of it) don't even know about them.
In my Joeverse, Cobra has splintered (actually Cobra splintered from the Coil) and there are numerous organizations: Cobra, Coil, Iron Grenadiers, Red Shadows. But all governments have been compromised and don't know who to trust. President sets up Joe to deal with the situation, but totally off the books.

I like the idea of a Civil Affairs unit with a body guard detachment made up of the Ninja Force guys. I've been trying to make customs for those guys who fit a more urban setting. I also rename a lot. For instance I use STorm Shadow V2(The Joe) as Tgin-Zu. I have a great Kamakura and Jinx. I also have a decent enough custom for Nunchuk, I use the extra Snake-Eyes bodies for Ashiko, Tjbang, and Banzai. Temple Snake-Eyes with the blonde hair makes a good Banzai, or Black Dragon from Extreme if you like. I have a stand in figure for one more but can never decide between Dojo, Bushido and Budo.
I think Super Trooper was public Affairs as a SMS and he may make a good Civil Affairs guy. Maybe a few other hard to place officers.

My ninja force guys look less ninja-y and more urbany. They're just martial artists/silent weapons tasked as bodyguards.

I also think the ninjas work well as part of a CID team. You want people who can work undercover with little resources and be able to fight their way out of a situation, by hand, if need be.
I decided to redesignate Budo as an MP/CID in order to complete my Special Reactions Team. When he and Chuckles (the defualt Team Leader) aren't required, they're running missions for CID. Sure Fire is the Provost Marshall and Bullet-Proof is his Deputy Marshall. Most of my MPs are dual-tasked. They may be working SRT or CID or a Military Dog Team, etc. SRT Entry Element: 1. Team Leader - Chuckles (also CID Team Leader) 2. Pointman - Shockwave 3. Defenseman/Breacher - Effects (demo expert) 4. Defenseman - Budo (also CID) 5. Rear Security - Law (also MP Dog Handler) Cover Element: 6. Marksman - Wide Scope (also MP Dog Handler) 7. Observer - Bullhorn (also Hostage Negotiator) Additional Cover Element: 8. Barrel Roll (also Close-Precision Engagement Team) 9. Black Out (before he went rogue) |
