Yeah. I do with the subteams so I tend to dissolve them.
Sky Patrol doesn't work for me as a unit like the toys had them. They had their own vehicles, and that just doesn't work. So for me they're spread all over the place. Drop Zone is in my HASSO unit. Static Line (I'm using the new Renegades Ripcord for him) is part of an airborne insertion team. Oliverbox does a great job keeping the teams in his joeverse and finding a way to use 'em. I just dissolve 'em and use the characters as needed where they will fit.

I do have a Sky Patrol Team which I mentioned earlier. I do not worry about what ever vehicles they have since none are specifically flying, however, I use POC Rollbar as Countdown and he serves as the Air Liason officer as well as Barrel-Roll. Both Pilots. SkyDive is a Captain in my Joeverse.
They usually function in a few ways: 1. Rescue. Gung-Ho's team is trapped under heavy fire deep in enemy territory. Who do you call? 2. Recon. Dropped behind enemy lines as a pathfinder unit to prepare for a larger invasion force. 3. Air Combat Control Team/JTAC The Main 6 Sky Patrollers are on every mission, But I might add Countdown for Mission 3 or Lifeline since he looks so sweet to Mission 1. I also use LAZY customs Jammer, and Airstrike as Air Combat Contollers to join for Mission 3 but they are each assigned to a different SF team.

He told me the actual weight of their gear and I thought it didn't sound like that much. I don't remember the numbers exactly, but when you hear it, it sounds like it wouldn't be so bad, but he reminded me that they lug this weight all day, up and down mountains at high elevation.
I have no idea what a SAW weighs, but I do know what 200 rounds of ammunition feels like. That must be one of the things they mean when they say, "Army strong." |

My Joe team loses alot of the vehicles.
The vehicles work as a toyline, but in "reality" they don't work as well. My Joes use Awe Strikers, VAMPs, APCs, Skyhawks, WHALEs, Devilfish, Armadillos, Tiger Rats, Dragonflys and they get supplemented with a PTE LAV and PTE Blackhawk that I have. No tanks, fighter jets.

I also am letting in the new Skystriker. I just can't help myself, I had to have one. How does that Blackhawk work for 25th Joes Troy? I've heard guys say the scale is just a hair off, but in every picture I see, I think it looks fantastic. I notice the scale issue more with the C-130, but even then it still looks very good to me. |

As I've been reading through this thread I've been totally rethinking my Joe verse. I've found places for special teams like Night Force and Tiger Force that had been previously omitted from my Joeverse.
There are a few subsets I still struggle with: The big one being Sky Patrol. I never liked the idea of Sky Patrol as special team, so it doesnt currently exist in my Joeverse, and the members all serve different purposes. For example, Sky Dive is the Joe team Jump Master, Airborne (which I call Eagle) is used as a Pararescue, and Altitude is a Combat Controller. Anyone else have this trouble? The Infantry is then structured like the SAS / Delta. 4 Squadrons each with a small HQ (10 or 11 persons) then 4 troops each specializing in a different insertion method; Air, Amphibious, Mobility and Mountain. In a team like the Joes, they'd probably all be airborne qualified anyway and all the comics and cartoons suggest that most are HALO / HAHO capable as well so separating them into specialized insertion teams works for me. The subunit I had the most issues with was Night Force. I know most of us use them as CQB / Urban Ops but I keep changing my mind. At the moment Night Force is the nickname of the CIA SAD team. I think I may be the only one here who has expanded his fictional (not toy) Joe unit into a Unified Combatant Command that includes Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine assets at almost every echelon. It's the heavy version of USSOCOM. I wanted to incorporate just about everything so I'm drawing up a new organizational tree. The infantry element of the Joes is made up of an entire division, the naval section has a Carrier Strike Group to protect the Flagg and an Expeditionary Strike Group to land the Joe's MEU, multiple Air Force Wings, and even though the entire Joe UCC is a "Special Operations Force", it combines SEALs, Special Boat Teams, Special Tactics Teams, Special Forces, Delta, Rangers, Psy Ops, Civil Affairs, Special Ops Aviation, and MSOBs into various-sized task units for Special Missions.

Not yet sure what specific function I plan on using them for but I'll have time to flesh that out as I complete the figures. Tiger force has always been a tough one for me. I found Hasbro's concept to be somewhat silly, and had written them off for a while. I just started putting together an eighteen man Tiger Force team. I use Tiger Force as a Codename for special advisory missions. If they are sent in to assist a friendly country as military advisors they use the Tiger Force moniker. The members all bring special skills such as tactical planning, transportation, naval ops, and security. Of course they may use their expertise for the occasional clandestine operation behind enemy lines making the Tiger Force a ruse. Any Joe can serve as a Tiger Force member, depending on the mission need.

For example, Sky Dive is the Joe team Jump Master, Airborne (which I call Eagle) is used as a Pararescue, and Altitude is a Combat Controller. Anyone else have this trouble? All of the Sub-Teams fall under my Joe Special Operations Command, and like the U.S. JSOC, all the Sub-Teams have a special purpose. Sky Patrol is a group I like a lot - I just don't use the vehicles. They function as a Deep Airborne Insertion LRRP/Combat Control Team. 6-man unit, all NCOs. It works really well for me. They serve as the Premier LRRP/CC team for my Joe-SOC. I use Tiger Force like a Special Forces Group assigned primarily to Sierra Gordo. Tiger Force is basically the Joe Version of U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group. Night Force is my main covert CT UNIT... basically the Joe version of Delta Force. The Desert Patrol Squad is basically the 5th Special Forces Group... they're assigned to Truscal Abysmia or whatever that desert/Middle Eastern country is in Joeverse. These units overlap, they coordinate, they work together. Now, let's say you've got a Subject area expert who isn't assigned to the team that deals with that subject area... like Free Fall... why isn't he on Sky Patrol? Simple answer: He's the main Joe Army's Airborne LRRP... he does exactly what Sky Patrol does, he just doesn't work for Joe-SOC. Anyway, that's what I do. Hope it helps, but honestly, I love talking sub-groups. Anything else you'd like to discuss/ask, please feel free. I collect all of them except BF2000, and I've given them all a great deal of thought.

I never gave Night Force much thought because I don't have any Night Force figures. However I recently put a Night Force team together that I plan on customizing.
