Army medics didn't carry firearms for many years. It wasn't until Vietnam (I think) that they started being issued weapons for defensive purposes. It's against the Geniva Convention to shoot at medical personnel, but once the US stopped fighting countries that cared about the Geniva Convention, they started letting the Medics have guns.
I think this is why they made Doc a pacifist, because at one time he could have been a pacifist in the military. |

You're fighting Cobra; you better carry at least a sidearm. I can agree to preventing loss of life, but when the poop hits the fan, Cobras can't be neutralized with peace signs. As the medic, you have an obligation to protect yourself in order to mitigate loss of your wounded battle-buddies. Once you're down, they are easy pickin's.

Well the carded Lifeline looks awesome but I'm disappointed that he's not coming with the hockey-style PJ helmet and chute. Those were awesome accessories.

I was looking forward to the PJ accessories. I was excited they made him a PJ, which is what he should have always been.

i haven't seen this thread on the front page in a while so I dropped in. Talking about Lifeline is a bonus. But I agree with Troy, the loss of the PJ accessories is unfortunate as it would have been a great addition to the character.

So they announced that Barrel Roll is the next subscription figure.Thought I'd see some comments in here.
Personally, I'm not crazy about their parts/ color choices and will most likely just stick with my re-purposed Air Raid and Target Glider as my default Barrel Roll. Unrelated- I found some RoC Para Vipers the other day. These things are awesome compared to the 25th. It's amazing how color choice can make or break a figure. I've stockpiled 2 dozen of the 25th version with plans to dye them but now I'm thinking it might just be easier to hunt down the same quantity in the RoC colors. If only they had made the 25th version Cobra Blue instead of purple. Also found some RIA Ripcords. I love the top feed machine gun he comes with. That thing is badass. Reminds me of the gun one of the snow Joes came with back in the day. Last edited by Topside; 11-01-2011 at 11:45 PM.. |

I like the Barrel Roll, except for the helmet.
I like that they combined the two aspects of the various BR figures. The DTC had the sniper and brown colors well the spy troops was the glider trooper. This Club figure is a good mix of the two.

I never minded the helmet on Barrel-ROll. I always kind of like it. Seems more Delta Force-ish. It's sort of the same as the Lifeline PJ helmet in a way. Are we sure Lifeline does not have the helmet tucked away in there? That would have been a shame.

I'm slightly annoyed by Lifeline's "RESCUE" on this leg. It covers the knee pad. If he's gotta have knee pads, then it seems more likely they would cover up the text. I don't mind the rest of his colors for some reason, but the other helmet would be a cool option. Maybe it's hidden behind the label, like the 30th Trooper's barbed-wire was.
