Yeah. I have Rock N Roll as the NCOIC of "The unofficial B-Team" of GI JOE (Support/Supply/CBR/NBC/Admin & Training), to go along with his PT Instructor position. But he also has direct action capabilities.
Quote:
Takedown, I have the whole Sky Patrol, but most are headswaps. I use POC Ripcord as Static line. I will use that Footloose head on Skydive when Footloose comes out. I use Rollbar with a ROC Duke head as Airborne, and an extra POC Beachhead with a headswap as Drop-Zone. I took an extra Clone trooper head as Altitude.
-I use Rollbar, with POC Beach Head's vest as Torpedo. -Renegade's Tunnelrat will be Sparks For Sky Patrol Im using; Renegade's Duke will be Rigger (Sgt Six; Airborne II), Renegade's Ripcord as Static Line. POC Kickstart as Airwave, Altitude is POC Hawk on POC Toys R Us PITT Trooper (TRU PITT Attack set). The 2 of the Sky Patrol I wish to change is Dropzone, at the moment is still the same and Sky Dive is from POC Zartan's head without marking around eyes on POC SkyDive's body w/ POC Clutch's helmet. I wish I could use the Footloose head as Skydive, Loose Cannon. But Im partial to Payload, since his head fit's on POC's Wild Bill's body better and I need another pilot with all those Wild Bill cannonfodder bodies. Quote:
Cool chronology, takedown. I don't know if you saw this when I posted it a while back, but we were discussing the possibility of someone having gone to flight school and Special Forces during his career and I found a bio of a guy who had. Here's the summary that I posted from Major Terry Morris:...

So I've decided to expand my Joe's Special Boat team to incorporate a hovercraft detachment, bringing the total to four:
Detachment A (Maritime) Mission: medium-range insertion; interdiction; patrol/surveillance Watercraft: 2 x Mk V SOC Crew: 5 x SWCC Payload: 16 x SEALs/Marines Detachment B (Littoral) Mission: short-range insertion; VBSS; patrol/surveillance Watercraft: 2 x RHIB Crew: 3 x SWCC Payload: 8 x SEALs/Marines Detachment C (Riverine) Mission: short-range insertion; recon; patrol; SAR Watercraft: 2 x SOC-R Crew: 4 x SWCC Payload: 8 x SEALs/Marines Detachment D (Amphibious) Mission: medium-range insertion; assault; recon Watercraft: 2 x WHALE Crew: 4 x SWCC Payload: 8 x SEALs/Marines My new detachment is an abridged version of the provisional "Air Boat Platoon" that the US Army operated in the Mekong Delta between 1968 and 1970. Unoffically designated the 39th Cavalry Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) Platoon of the 3rd Brigade, 9th Infantry Division, the platoon employed three Bell SK-5 hovercrafts, whose design I believe served as the inspiration for the WHALE. The Army's ACV was a modified version of the Navy's PACV to carry more passengers and heavier armament. An ACV had a crew of seven and could carry 10-12 troops, mostly outside the cabin on the decks. Above the cabin were two turrets, each with an M2 .50 caliber machine gun, and from two cabin-side windows protruded an M60. A single M5 (40 mm grenade launcher) was mounted to the left-front deck. The bow even has an unloading ramp similar to the WHALE, but no hydro sled. :( Here's a pic of the Navy's PACV. Here's the SK-5. Unlike the PACV, it had two turrets on top and a wider cabin. A typical crew consisted of a Vehicle Commander (E7), Driver (E6), Radar Navigator (E5), Senior Gunner (E5), two M60 Gunners (E4), and an Observer/Gunner (E4). Since the WHALE has limited crew stations, I only need a complement of four. My Navigator also serves as a Weapon Systems Operator for the quad SAMs and depth charges. Here's a sample list of one hovercraft's personnel. Crew: Detachment Leader/Pilot - Cutter Navigator/WSO - Rampart Senior Gunner - Shipwreck Gunner - Topside Recon Team: Team Leader - Gung-Ho Ast Team Leader - Leatherneck Senior Scout - Pathfinder Scout - Recondo Last edited by Tanksmasher; 10-01-2011 at 05:29 PM.. |

Nice so who pilots the 2nd Whale?
The Mark V reminds me of the SHARK9000 in that it has a ramp of sorts. But would need a serious paint job. To change the subject... and I don't think you'll mind, Loose. I think I may have found another Marine...
So I've been looking into the G.I. Joe Extreme continuity lately because of my SEAL project and Harpoon. We all know that Lt. Stone was a Marine, but apparently Ballistic/Eagle Eye was also a Marine: Scout/Sniper. According to what I found about some episode synapsis on Blood for the Baron, Ballistic/Eagle Eye was a USMC Scout/Sniper who then went to Special Forces. We've all been around long enough to know that U.S. Marines don't join Army SF. However, sometimes Marines do get an opportunity to try out for Delta Selection. Consequently, I don't think the writers of Extreme knew what they were doing, but if we try to make some kind of realistic sense of out Ballistic/Eagle Eye's background, it would seem most likely that he was a USMC Recon Scout/Sniper who then went to Delta Force before being selected for the Joe Team.

Nice I haven't found the right Joe to rename as Ballistic, although I thought I saw a lazy custom that looked good. I use to use Battle Corps Paratrooper Flint.
Too bad ther isn't more info. Now I have to come up with someone. YOJOE.COM | Extreme Bios Speaking of Extreme, I wonder if temple Snake-Eyes with the blonde hair would make a good Black Dragon? YOJOE.COM | Black Dragon I was using him as Banzai but I can use someone else. Speaking of Ninjas, Anyone pick up Ashiko? I was going to but it looks like such a terrible figure, that you could just make with an extra snake-Eyes.

If they had removed the torpedos and made some more room for SEALS, it would have been perfect. I have the PTE RHIB--it's a great platform. I'd love to see JSI or BBI or PTE do a SOC-R and equip it with some M134s like the one on the new MH-60 in my signature pic below. I use the '05 Hydrofoil as the Mk V. http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/05/morayhydrofoil/

That hovercraft reminds me: I need to update another post. You see, I have a whole thread on the yojoe.com forums dedicated to the real-life counterparts of GI Joe vehicles.
Shameless Plug It's an on-going thing I've been working on for about three years. Some of the information needs to be updated, and some of the links might need to be checked, but it's mostly all there. Plus, the discussion is worth a read. If anyone here happens to check it out, let me know it's you over there.

Nice Job Rooster. Lookikng back someone mentioned the MiG 31 Firefox for a model for the Night Raven. I would say no for the original Night Raven, but yes for the ROC Night Raven, as it has the more square design.
I loved that movie, and now being where I am it has even more significance for me, although I doubt that would ever be on TV here unless there were an altenate ending.

+1 looks like a fun thread, though surely the Night Raven is based in main part on the SR-71 Blackbird?
