Here is a little summary on Firefly. He is an expert in all explosives and detonators. He is known as the Rembrandt of plastic explosives. He can build bombs that are impossible to defuse. He is an expert in infiltration and mountain climbing. He is a world-class long-range rifleman. He is an expert in close range combat with pistols. He is a master of the Koga style of Ninjitsu.
I refuse to acknowledge the reference to No-kan-do ninjutsu. Coming on the file card of a blaze orange red ninja driving a giant battle axe on wheels. |

Were any details from "Green Platoon" mentioned? Do they get weeded out on "the long walk" like Delta? Honestly, the way you described it, it sounds more like Fraternity Rush at College than Counter Terrorist training.

There is a special on the Discovery Channel call The Secret of SEAL Team Six. It mentioned their selection process. Supposedly, potential members have their names put up in a hallway. Current members that know them put a green check or a red x by their name. If you have more checks than x's, you get to go to Green Platoon. Green Platoon is their "selection"/training course. It seems a lot of guys still wash out at this point.
I think when you're reading ST6 memoirs it depends on when the member joined. In the beginning, Marcinko handpicked his team through personel files and interviews due to the short timeframe to get operational. I believe the process has become more formal through the years. The first group supposedly had some newbie SEALs in it. Now I believe you have to have five years service or two combat deployments as a SEAL before joining.

Saw something interesting in a customs post this morning. Tanker named Spectre is doing his take on the Joe SeAL team and someone suggested he add Scoop as "Comcam does alot of work with the teams". Is Scoop Navy? Didn't see anything in his filecard to indicate such. Any thoughts?

Didn't say a whole lot. I figure it's similar to Delta's new operator course. Remember, the checks just get you in the door. It doesn't mean you'll make it to an operational squad. It brings new meaning to "Your reputation starts at BUD/S". You never know who's going to remember you slacking off later in your career.

Here is another summary on Firefly. He has a shrewed tactical mind and is totally ruthless. He is an expert in hand to hand combat due to having great reflexes. When he does a job,he wants paid in advanced and gives no refunds. During the Venom Program,he may have participated in it. His 2010 v 22 Filecard has him wearing titanium body armor and arm shields.

My impression is this: SEAL Team 6 says, "Who in the SEAL times do we like? Who is doing a good job and has a good reputation? Let's invite them in and start training them. They're already SEALs, so we don't need a Selection Course to weed them out beyond their reputation." Delta Force says, "We don't care if they're hot stuff in the Rangers Regiment or in one of the SF Groups, we'll see how they do on the Long Walk... if they make it through that, then we'll start training them."

It's all about "trainability," and that might require having to unlearn what you have learned. It's the stumbling block that weeds out otherwise hard-core soldiers.

That's what I thought. Maybe in the comics? Aren't there 2 different Joes that have had the codename? Both dead?
