Don't worry. Hop in any time. I half forget what we brought up before. And sometimes when you bring out an old topic, guys that have dropped off turn up again just to rediscuss it since it's a favorite topic. (It's always good to see Oliver come out of semi-Retirement)
(I'm talking about Troy in particular! But TallCreeper, and Tanksmasher, or Slither or Zulu haven't been around in some time. I think they're still lurking. I think BlackRazor and Fogger do. Takedown and Bcross pipe in from time to time.)

I'm reading a book called "Seal Team Six" by Howard Wasdin. Only half way through but so far it's been a very interesting read and really shows the huge gulf between Seal Team 6 and regular Seal platoons. For example, in the chapter I just read it took Foxtrot Platoon, Seal Team 2 two hours to clear a foreign ship on a VBSS mission and Wasdin points out that it would've taken Team Six less than half an hour to do the same job.
One thing that struck me was the lack of any talk about SEAL Team 6 Selection. The way it was presented, it seemed like Team 6 just interviewed some SEALs with good records and then brought them into the team. There was no additional Selection course above and beyond BUD/S. That surprized me. Also, it was interesting how he described the Delta Operator's reaction to him after the Battle of Mogadishu: he said they were surprized he would shoot/fight because he was a SEAL. They didn't expect much of him... which makes me wonder why Delta had that opinion of the SEALs.

I read that recently (I suppose it only came out recently).

In the beginning, Marcinko handpicked his team through personel files and interviews due to the short timeframe to get operational. I believe the process has become more formal through the years. The first group supposedly had some newbie SEALs in it. Now I believe you have to have five years service or two combat deployments as a SEAL before joining.
